it has started to happen in the last few months.
i have to restart the pc a few times to get them to show again,but this last time i had to use the ctrl/alt/del then restart.
i do use mse/malwarebytes/spybot and superantispyware to try and keep my pc virus free.
any idea how i can solve this problem (please reply in idiot speak as i'm not too pc savvy 😳

Sounds like the explorer isn't running, to check open task manager and see if the process of explorer.exe is running.
If not, go to the menu and start a new process of explorer.exe
