Oddly one of my lappy's full stop keys is registering stuck down and I can't even boot it up now.

Its got those fancy slim keys and I've prised them off but cannot see any issues with them at all.

What to do? Straight to pc repair shop?

Similar thing happened on mine. Cost about £15 for a new keyboard off ebay and £50 to fit after I broke the cable connector doing it myself.

Can try a spot of iso on the offending key but as above usually requires a new kb to resolve. Real easy to swap if you haven't done it before, the old one will usually get destroyed taking it off depending on the level of tape used during building.

Will have a little FPC that is usually covered by a screwed down cover of some description, would suggest connecting it then booting up to check its connected properly before fully sticking it down and rescrewing the cover. There will be retainer clips either side of the chassis so a slight bend of the new keyboard will be required to get it to seat properly.

Can of compressed air (aka an 'air duster') would be my first port of call. Cheaper and easier than a new keyboard, and if it makes no difference it's a useful thing to have on hand anyway.

wot he said ^, and maybe a hard slap or two to the side, while holding it so the keyboard is vertical can help (using the air can in this position too). It'll be some rubbish (toast crumbs) stuck under the key more then likely.
As for replacing it, most keyboards will lift off after unscrewing it from underneath, or find the screws by removing the bezel between the keyboard & screen. All depends on the make/model of laptop

There is no debris there, only the part that holds the key in place and a sealed silicon bubble.

Time to get the screwdriver out. If I can disable it at least I can plug in an external.

Weird.

On boot up there is a near-continuous beep. If you press tge power button for long anough, but not too long, it boots up ok. But on logging in, it looks like a button is stuck down, but ctrl A then delete clears it up!
