[Closed] PC advice....dual monitor set up.....

Im trying to get my laptop hooked up to and old monitor I have.
So far Ive managed to get it to repeat exactly whats on the laptop screen but theres no ability to drag and drop etc between screens.
I've tried in control panel but it won' detect the old monitor.
Am i doing something wrong or is my monitor just too old (2004) for this kind on techno jiggery-pokery.....
Please advise.......

What operating system? Try right click the desktop > graphics options > output to > extend the desktop

no problem. stuck in office waiting for biggest traffic jam I've seen round here to subside so I can go home! so nowt else to do
