It's a way for the recipient to avoid paypal's fees and for you to avoid any of Paypal's protection against scammers. Better to take the regular option of paying their fees at your end then keeping some sort of redress if they turn out to have scammed you.

FWIW I'd only use PPG if it were money going to someone on here who posts pretty regularly and isn't a classified's only type - for instance bruneep would be a safe bet for your £20 😀

it is a way for the buyer to get full amount he asked for.
it costs the sender no extra, But only ppg people you trust...... 😆

There have been a lot of threads about it on here, there's even a big warning about it at the bottom of the classifieds page. As said above only if you 100% trust the seller.

Basically you will be giving the money as a present (or "gift", if you will). If the recipient chooses to send you some bike-related item in return then they can but are by no means obliged to. 🙂 They will avoid the PayPal fees and you will neatly sidestep the protection you would otherwise get.

Ok fair enough, I have just read the STW 'Classified Rules'.

Just being lazy and not doing a search!

It's supposed to be for
"Sending money to family or friends"

You will be charged a £0.00 GBP fee if you use your PayPal balance and/or bank account to send money.
You will be charged a £0.37* GBP fee if you use your debit or credit card to send money.
These transactions are NOT covered by PayPal Buyer Protection.

*for a £5 gift
helpful?
