Bought a pair of wheels from a guy in France, and I chased the delivery up today. He gave me the tracking no. and the order status says they've tried to deliver it 3 times (and after the address was wrong) and its now waiting at my local PO.

No courier ever turned up or a note left (as my wife looks after our 3 month old and she hasn't left the house in 3 weeks as she's been really ill.

If they're not at the PO tomorrow (and I'll need to check 3, as they've all equidistant to my house) and they're not there, do I raise a PayPal dispute or raise it through my credit card?

Never had to do this before but it's £300!

Cheers

If the shipping company says they've tried to deliver doesn't that at least imply they have something to deliver, even if they got the address wrong? Who is the shipping company? Why doesn't it tell you which PO they're at?

Sounds to me like you're worrying over nothing. When did you buy them and when were they posted?

If they are not at the PO try reasoning with the seller for a refund. If he did post them and the Package was tracked then it must have some insurance? If that fails, try PayPal. If that fails try your credit card. Here's hoping they are at the PO!

What sort of tracking information would just say "Local" post office ?

Also, if the address was wrong, how do you know which is the "Local" post office, as it won't be yours because they don't have your address.

More info needed, what courier, exactly what is stated on tracking info etc - sounds like Parcelforce Worldwide? - is the address wrong because seller wrote it incorrectly?

Paypal is the answer to your question btw 🙂

4 parcel force deliveries over the last year have all just been dumped at local collection depot with the alleged attempted delivery despite no cards being left, all because I have no road to my house front and it involves a 5 min walk so there is hope still that has happened to yours 🙂

It's not addressed to him though.

It will go to the usual collection office of the address it was actually sent to.

What are they, bleedin mindreaders?
Despite having the wrong address they've tried to deliver three times- to you or the wrong address?
You have the tracking number, so phone up parcelforce and the post office and find out where the wheels are.
If you're not able to use a phone, get down the PO depot with the tracking number and they will tell you where they are.
It may save you a bit of travelling.

if the seller has not sent the wheels to the "confirmed" address on your paypal account and you do not recieve the wheels, make a claim and paypal will re-imburse you in full.
if the seller has no proof of delivery even to the correct address paypal will re-imburse you in full

or you can do a chargeback after 21 days

dont hesitate to make a claim, its a very easy process and they always side with the buyer

I'd hesitate to make a claim, it doesn't sound like the OP has done much to try to track them down other than wait by the front door so far. No offence OP, but this is likely the kind of thing that happens with Parcel Farce day in day out so to be talking about making claims already is a tad hasty IMO.

How did the wrong address get on it then?

Option 1: If YOU gave him the wrong address - you'll need to cough up more postage costs to get them delivered to your place. Your mistake.

Option 2: If HE wrote the address wrong - you can claim through PayPal for this.

Fairly simple....
