the web address looks ok and the padlock is there.

A while ago I think, but can you download the app and try and log in to be sure?

If you’re logging in via the app, or directly into the PP site using an address that you’ve used before, rather than being directed from an email, then I’d have thought it’s legit. The address should have https in it, obviously.

I am not an IT expert.

I went to use the PayPal app today and had to reset my password too.

Our PP account asked us to do this about a month ago.

Nothing dodgey has shown up since.

I had a few reminder emails from Paypal recently about updating my expired debit card details (I rarely use it so wasn't bothered), then I had an email yesterday saying they'd updated them for me - wtf? I know ultimately it's supposed to just be helping me and I probably consented to it by accepting t&c's long ago but just seems a bit of a cheek to, not even sure where they got the new details from (browser maybe but I always assumed you'd have to explicitly consent to those being used by a site). Obviously no CVV number (I hope...) so not really a fraud risk but hmm.

I think in some circumstances it's also possible for merchants to charge an expired card.
