If you paid someone £90 to do something for you based on email exchanges and they then more or less stopped answering your mails and didn't deliver anything what would you do?
Keep mailing them a couple of times a week indefinately?
Flame them on internet forums where they are known?
Give up on the lost cash and get on with your life?
Paying for services then not getting them
I've had a similar on-going problem for years now. My wage gets paid into a joint account the wife has access to...

😆
Threaten legal action?
I'd want my cash back, but then I'm tight.
legal action for £90?!
That would probably not pay off plus we are in different countries
Flame them on internet forums where they are known?
Dunno whats the etiquette on morethanfriends.com ?
If you've paid your £90 admin charge, and given them your bank details then just sit tight. I'm sure the Nigerian lottery winnings will be swept into your account any day now
In different countries? Are they still using he forums?
Give them an ultimatum then flame away depending on the answer - we did have a situation here that was similar and an innocent explanation emerged
How did you get the money to them?
Depends how may emails / phone calls etc., you were expecting for your £90
I'd tell the drug addict hooker to pay me back.
Oops wrong forum!
I'm outside the UK, not them
I was expecting more than "I'll call you tomorrow" and then no phone call twice.
It's not really my style to flame anyone, it seems so undignified and wouldn't really help me very much.
Maybe I'l find out where he lives and wee through his letterbox
Before you do anything 'awkward', just check they've not been run over or the like...
Maybe I'l find out where he lives and wee through his letterbox
From another country? Are you Ron Jeremy?
Maybe I'l find out where he lives and wee through his letterbox
From another country? Are you Ron Jeremy?
Nah, he will probably get it delivered with UPeeS.
and wouldn't really help me very much.
No, but it may stop others from losing money too if they do it a lot.
Lots of unscrupulous people/companies rely on people writing off small amounts.
I'm coming to the UK in the summer.
I know the person in question is not out of action.
I know there are some excuses, but not enough for 4+ months
So no clues at all then?
We could have a sweep stake?
Ic another country...legal action is cost prohibitive, flame away.
I had to threaten this with a chinese ebay seller who royally dicked me around.
Is it Dave again?
As you know I have had a very similar experience with the same service provider (except I paid £250). Suggest you give me a call and we can discuss.
^+1
I did get a discount off my last 'plan' 15% iirc. When I paid him I asked if there's an delay with any subsequent plans what should I do. I actually believed him when he said everything was sorted now so there won't be any more delays.
Low and behold, nothing for 4 months, I use someone else now. If anyone wants his details, my email address is in my profile.
Has anyone had any good experiences with him as a customer?
I've changed the email in my profile to the one I know will work. The only other one that works is a corporate one which I can't use on here. This is pretty dire I admit. To put it in context, I had 85k files deleted, with all my work records from the last 3 years, all my email archives gone, my stalker has kindly canceled car/house insurance months ago and I only just found out etc. I've been getting emails this week that were sent to me months ago. This is just a small part of what has been happening, including verbal threats against my kids. So I'm dealing with all sorts and trying to keep some kind of sanity while a large part of my business dissolves - coaching is a small part of what I do . can anyone affected please contact me and I'll sort out refunds asap. It's utterly shoddy, I fully understand that I come across as a horses ass and utter tosser from this. I have actually had very few clients from STW over the years, probably no more than 6 in as many years most of them since feb this year. I tried to help as many as possible with the diet thing and not tried to sell my services through the forum. A few of you wanting coaching came at the worst time with stalker then IT disasters. my apologies to anyone affected. I'll try and get you sorted as soon as possible. i may be an arse but I'm not a bad man as such.
he needs that £90 to pay his speeding fine dave
We're in contact and I'm hopeful that we'll sort it all out now.
I know that he has had some problems otherwise I wouldn't have been so patient in the first place.
I know that he has had some problems
I know the person in question is not out of action.
Hmmm...?
I will email you now and await my refund.
You're having it a bit rough, Dave. I doubt I can be of much practical help but that needn't stop you asking. Mail in profile, as they say, in case you've lost all details.
To all the witchfinders I'd say this: Dave's maybe a bit disorganised at the best of times, but he's not a rogue. I've known him for a good few years and I've never seen him abuse anybody's trust. The shitstorm he's experiencing right now is enough to drive anybody mad, so cut him a bit of slack if you can.
So - four days since I emailed Dave on his "clean" email. No reply. No surprise. For what it's worth I have some sympathy with Dave as he's clearly having a shit time. However, in the last twelve months I've lost my home, wife (who announced her affair with a workmate on my birthday), financial stability and dog. Part of what helped me through was the thought of losing weight and getting fitter - this is why I paid £250 for what I thought was to be a structured plan with support. I did, eventually get the workout plan (and a tweeked iDave diet) but have not had a single chance to discuss the plan or ask any questions. The plan took no account of the exercise I was already doing. I had absolutely no reply to any of the weekly feedback forms I was asked to fill in. I've had a shit year too, Dave, and I went to work and did my job. Do the decent thing and give those people who you have so clearly failed their money back. You might even rebuild your reputation if you do.
I know you'll all be shocked, but here we are two weeks on and still the promised refund hasn't arrived. Words fail me (at least, the ones I can post on here do).
To be fair, if this was jo burt or superstar there'd be hell on about this.
Absolutely. It astonishes me that someone can give so much help away for free, but then be so utterly useless when paid.
Well, i've been following iDave diet discussions for a long time now, always been slightly sceptical, in no small measure influenced by edukator. Have been trying to work out if it is any more than a low carb diet with some days off., or perhaps really just a more out tha n in calorie balance. Seems it was a weight loss programme for tubbies and less for slighter chaps looking to tone up. As a fatty myself i have followed the mixed reviews with interest. However given the excellent recent reviews with lots of people seeming to have lost lots and lots of pounds and apparently, not regaining them, as is common with some diets. I reckon i'll be taking it on. How do i contact this iDave fella?does he have an email address?
Same boat here.
Have tried all 'clean' email addresses. 3 months in.
Dave, please spend a few hours at the bank sorting out the refunds owed.
If you are genuinely still not receiving my emails with bank details, please contact me via my profile.
£250
PLEASE.
No opinion on Idave or the diet but it is clear what the right thing is to do
the longer it goes on unresolved the worse it looks.
What? Page two and no jokes about losing 250 lb on the diet?
FWIW he's probably far from the worst coach, there was an anecdote in Hutch's column in Cycling Weekly where someone training for a long distance race received the wrong training plan for that week and got one addressed to someone training for a sprint. When queried the coach sent him a new plan, well the same plan with his name at the top this time!

No need to duck
Im new to this but what exactly are you guys paying 90-250 for?
Are you getting commercial/winnings results? Sorry I never click on the diet threads. I drink alcohol etc so Ive always felt it wouldnt be for me.
Im new to this but what exactly are you guys paying 90-250 for?
I think that is a sensitive issue
Wonders if reading the thread would answer that question 💡
I thought this was about the US Secret Service in Columbia...
love the fact that whilct reading this thread the weigh****chers banners rolls across the scree..
perhaps there is a lesson in that.. man up and join the grandmas at the local church hall.. we re all cake munchers after all
Im new to this but what exactly are you guys paying 90-250 for?
Im my case, no traning plan, no diet plan, no verbal communication.
I keep hearing that Dave is a decent guy (he even says so himself) and to try and cut some slack, but as eluded to above, he would do his reputation no harm by getting to the bank and refunding monies owed to people.
I for one certainly can't afford to lose £250 for nothing. It took me ages to decide to take the plunge and I had to go into debt to pay for this service, mainly on the strength of positive testimony from other members on here and some seemingly sound science.
Im getting married later this month, I could really use my money back.
Soon I think the only option will be for all out of pocket parties to get together and discuss legal proceedings.
£90 may not sound much to many people, but club all these figures together and it starts to look like iDave is living it up on us.
I was once in a similar situation a few years ago, had the rug pulled out from under me andended up owing a few people a similar sums. The problem is your first reaction is to look after you and yours. Yes i owed money, but i didn't have it imonew it was killing my reputation, but i couldn't breing myself to send off £200 quid which i owed, knowing that this would just get me deeper and deeper into trouble. It didn't end well.
no reponse as of today, anyone else get lucky?
for those concerned about iDave's well being, I can confirm that he at least seems to be alive and healthy, judging by his Twitter stream:
https://twitter.com/ffflow
However, his email system is clearly dysfunctional. apprarently.
Surprised by the lack of a reaction on this, anyone else would have been slaughtered by now...( As Realman was)
, He can twitter but not respond, or refund.. 😯
STW hypocrisy??? 😉
Personally I had great service from iDave.
I'm suspicious that there aren't more people complaining on this thread.
Why are folk still putting up with this and just whinging on here about it? The guy has taken your money and fair enough he has had some stuff going on, but he is still running a business and has taken your money and not provided the goods. If that is him posting on Twitter then he is obviously taking the mick out of you.
My advice for what it's worth (very little) is to MTFU and take it to a small claims court. It seems that's the only way at this stage since there has been continued promises and no refund or delivery of goods.
Love how the usual STW mob defend their hero purveyor of chub loss. As has been said, if this was anyone else the lynch mob would be in full action and posting up addresses and bank account details along with inside leg measurements of the offender.
I think the only option will be for all out of pocket parties to get together and discuss legal proceedings.
Check it out but I would have thought separate Small Claims Court proceedings would be better
It'll be held in your local court, if it gets that far, and is pretty much a fixed fee process
I'm suspicious that there aren't more people complaining on this thread.
But like all 'retailers' it's how you deal with things when they go wrong that counts, not when it's all going swimmingly?
iDave has said he's had major problems with all sorts fo stuff. Why he can't just refund the people who he has (through no fault of his own it would seem) let down is the issue?
Can anyone lend me a [s]mint sauce key ring[/s] iDave diet sheet?
iEdit
I dont get this at all? Where is iDave? Where is simjim's money? Where is the witch hunt?
The one positive as I see it, is that at least this website gives you a little bit of room to share your grief around. At least iDave takes a bit of flak publicly for behaving like this. Hopefully folk reading this won't be giving him any money now.
I think it eventually has to be small claims court. Then you get a judgement.....but do you get your money without loads more effort after that?
There are loads of piss takers out there taking advantage of this farcical merrygoround.
Did I ever tell you about a geezer called Rob?
I dont get this at all? Where is iDave? Where is simjim's money? Where is the witch hunt?
I know..It's like some STW alternate reality, without bombers 😯
Update - iDave has responded to me via Twitter, I have now received an email from him stating he will clear this up today, im still not sure if that means he intends to refund but he has confirmed receipt of my details.
I will update again once i've received a refund.
I had an email weeks ago promising refund. Don't hold your breath.
He's been too busy riding his bike to sort out mundane things like refunds
i'm trying hard not to agree with you atlaz.. benefit of doubt is expected to fully deplete with approximately 48hrs.
If you get a CCJ or small claims judgement from a 'group' action, could you then not sell that debt on? You'd get something back and someone else would be chasing the debt.
Maybe I will get a response to all my unanswered emails. I won't be holding my breath though.
I now no that my decision to not post on Twitter was an excellent one.
Well, was promised a resolution today... have heard nothing. have emailed and tweeted him, despite a dozen tweets from him today mine is currently unanswered.
Im hoping others owed money by him may tweet him too as I get the impression he doesn't want his hundreds of followers to see the negative side of his services.
He's been too busy riding his bike to sort out mundane things like refunds
x100
Really very disappointed in iDave. I'd thought he was one of the good guys.is there anyone left whomwould still defend him in light of whatnhe has done or failed to do?
Hmm, I've abstained from commenting on this because I too thought Dave to be one of the good guys. If no-one is getting answers now (several weeks on from Dave's proposed settlement update) then IMO Dave has to set up a new webmail account, notify everyone they'll be refunded and then either do the decent thing online or toodle off to t' bank.
Fair enough, there may be 'only' a handful of £90-£250 clients on STW and they may well only form a tiny percentage of his income. But that's no excuse - they've paid up front and received nothing but sh1t service. So Dave, sort it out. Enough damage has been done to your rep on here - which you may not care about because the bulk of your earning comes from elsewhere. Either way, that stinks. Stick your hand in your pocket and sort it out.
You can happily spend time tweeting every few minutes but can't send/receive a few emails? That's BS IMO.
EDIT: I didn't enjoy writing this post because I genuinely believe there's a lot of sincerity in the iDiet (and some of Dave's opinions on general fitness etc). But what FMO is seeing the hypocrisy of Dave's Twitter stream happily updating every few minutes/hours ... Living it up in France just recently eh?
Must be tough having to slog up the Galibier knowing all this sh1t is going on.
This guy was good enough to email his idiet when I asked, I thought he was a good bloke but really what he is doing is out of order.
Just had a look at his twitter feed, he is taking the pi** out of anyone he still owes money to.
I'm amazed this thread isn't 10 pages long yet and he isn't being flamed. Weird
Thieving scumbag then?
I'm amazed this thread isn't 10 pages long yet and he isn't being flamed. Weird
Not really weird, Dave has fostered a lot of goodwill through his dietary/lifestyle stuff. Enough to buy a pass for a certain amount of bullshit, or at the very least lengthen STW's notoriously short fuse.
...he does seem to be putting this particular fire out with petrol, rather than water, though.
I'm guessing he hasn't refunded you all as he CAN'T and keeps hoping he is going to get the money from elsewhere to pay you hence he keeps fobbing you off.
Nearly but not quite, Jamie, TSY has fostered a lot of goodwill. iDave is mates with TSY so I ignore most of the fad diet stuff rather than upset TSY.
Is tsy in touch? Can we gain some insight through him?
I'm guessing he hasn't refunded you all as he CAN'T and keeps hoping he is going to get the money from elsewhere to pay you hence he keeps fobbing you off.
I know he's had serious financial issues in the past, maybe they've caught up with him again and he simply can't bring himself to face up to it?
I'm guessing he hasn't refunded you all as he CAN'T and keeps hoping he is going to get the money from elsewhere to pay you hence he keeps fobbing you off.
He should come out and say so then. His reputation or lack of it now can only be restored if he posts up why he's been unable to refund. There does seem to be a lot of he's a regular so it will be all ok attitude. I've seen other posters get flamed for a lot less than this.
At present he is another name to add to my don't deal with list.
I know he's had serious financial issues in the past, maybe they've caught up with him again and he simply can't bring himself to face up to it?
I don't imagine cycling about in France for few weeks, is the best way of dealing with serious financial issues. Still, I imagine those who got stiffed would like to spend their hard earned on a bike tour, this way they get to do that, the only downside is that it seems to be someone else's tour.
Indeed
I don't imagine cycling about in France for few weeks, is the best way of dealing with serious financial issues.
It is if it's work related and if there's a pay cheque in the end. If he does have financial issues then honesty with the people he owes money would be better than ignoring them.
