I just won a car on ebay. The seller is a really decent chap and was very helpful throughout the process.

Time to pay. Would paying a small deposit via paypal and the balance in cash net the seller more of the selling price rather than paypal and ebay swiping a bigger chunk from the total in fees

You're asking the seller to be very trusting if you pay by paypal as sellers can be scammed for anything collected in person and paid paypal. Even eBay don't even encourage using paypal for cars.

This seller only pays fees on the deposit, not the balance paid in cash.

when I sold mine £100 deposit by PP, £1500 in cash.

He's a doctor. Who cares if he pays a bit more 😉

He's a doctor

When I spoke to him on the telephone he said he worked in a hospital, I didn't get the impression he was a porter.

PP deposit it is and balance in cash.
