Small one (10yo) needs a PAYG SIM for occasional use as I’m getting weary of random Tesco Mobile credit depletion.

Is 1p Mobile the best bet for occasional use or am I missing something? She’s not quite at the stage of daily phone use so it’s only really for emergencies.

Giffgaff needs you to make 1 call or text every 3 months but otherwise no credit depletion. Cost per minute is much higher though.
As around and someone will send you a SIM.
Asda used to be OK too. A few networks insist on monthly spend.

Tesco? Have you switched to the Lite plan and turned off mobile data? I put a tenner on my lads sim last summer he's yet to use it. If he needs data I just create a hot spot for him, or he just connects to WiFi.

Thinking about it we also use a Tesco Lite sim at work to receive texts only and I'm pretty sure it's been years and we only ever topped it up when bought.

Both are frequently on, not just switched off in a drawer.

I m on ee PAYG, 10 GBP per month with a max 6 month gap of no use. Tempted by the cheapies but bad reviews, really like we service, bombarded with free offers of extra data but don't use enough.

May be 3 month gap of no use not 6.

Yep, I use giffgaff for our alarm SIM. Just the odd text or a call if it goes off - you get an email warning if you’ve had nothing for 3+ months. A £10 topup lasts years.

@fooman She’s on Lite but needs data for iMessage - maybe the issue is that there’s some sort of minimum data spend?
