Have been due a rise for some time, and it looks like things are now coming to a head.

The company's preferred option seems to be:

1) settle outstanding bonuses/commissions from previous 18 months
2) offer a rise (likely to be anything from 10-40%: the higher the rise, the lower the bonus (going forward that is))
3) offer share options as an incentive to continue delivering on current revenue/margins so as to make the company a viable commodity to sell, therefore making us shareholders a nice piece of wedge

So, (1) and (2) I'm okay with, but shares I know little about. Is there a formal process they need to go through? Do the shares have to be valued at time of "transfer" so I know how much they're worth now and how to measure capital gains tax on future sale? Any pitfalls to be aware of? Issue with taking dividends offset against PAYE?

What say the masses?

Cheers
