[Closed] Panic Buying, watcha got?

Did a shopping trip to Costco yesterday. Just picked up the usual stuff so no panic buying for me.

Plenty of other people there leaving with four or five of the huge loo roll packs and hundreds of bottles of water. I've never seen Costco so busy or the shelves so empty.

Worryingly they were out of the catering size packs of Yorkshire Tea bags. Not sure if that's coronavirus or Rishi Sunak related though.

I got a Gillette Contour razor + 20 blades for the price of 12 blades (without the actual razor) in Superdrug. If things get messy, I can make a clean-shaven fortune selling that spare razor.

Not really a panic buy, but I bought another 5kg of Pale Ale malt on Saturday and some more yeast.

If nothing else, the apocalypse will have another 20L or so of Belgian ale to make it bearable.

I’m considering panic buying a Wavesport Ethos 10.5 kayak.

If it’s the end times I want to have some fun first!

Our espresso machine is on it's last legs. Reckon a panic buy new one is on the cards. No point facing bog-roll-death-fights without having some decent coffee first, right?

So then. 2nd hand pre-2015 gaggia classic or rancilio or new base model sage?

With an espresso machine, you need the bog roll.

Speaks of which I’ve just orders 48 rolls.

I’ve just bought a Somy RX100 mk iv on eBay for a very reasonable price.

Should be good for documenting the apocalypse for future generations.

Surely if bog rolls become unavailable due to meltdown of society you can just wash your bum with water like half the world’s population? Doesn’t seem worth stockpiling.....

Or do it like the Romans did - use a wet sponge. You can even share it amongst friends!

Because we got a puppy last year I was bulk buying hand gel - well £11 for a tray of 4 pump bottles seemed like a good buy , they are now unavailable from the original supplier but I can see them on ebay for .. £30 each or £99 for 4 , and the ones I saw last night have sold...

4 Packets of Bourbon Biscuits, just a start, will be building up to 20 packets

The notion of us both being forced to work from home and there being no biscuits to stop her talking fills me with fear.

I have:
15kg rice
8 kg of pasta
plenty of dry food
plenty of tin food
plenty of MSG
at least 10kg of tea
3kg of coffee beans
at least 8 Litre of cooking oil
at least 5kg of flour
8kg of sugar
about 5 kg of salt
and plenty of spice ...

Safety razor blades, shaving soap, after shave that will last me this life time especially the safety razor blades.

The only thing I need is fresh veg or fruits ... hmm ... think I can survive for at least 2 months easy. 🤔

4 27.5 innertubes (realised I only had one in my camelbak) - always carry two in case of a zombie attack, or some panic buying prepper attack.

Thought this was a ‘panic before brexit buying’ subject.

Steel 29 👍
Lots of expensive mtb clothing 👍
Few spares and consumables 👍

I guess it'll take a while for Corvid 19 to peck you to death.....

A block of chocolate, however now need to explain to my wife how the mice opened it, ate it all and put the wrapper in the bin. Might need to invest in some mice traps (or less chocolate)

People have always talked about what they would do if the 4 minute warning went off, at least now we know what they'd really do, they'd go and check they had enough bog roll left!

So current level of panic buying.
tumble drier, chainsaw, new buoyancy aid, bike for the kid, and a set of noise cancelling headphones.
should see us right for the apocalypse.

Surely more likely to result in acquiring a virus than helping to survive one?

@sharkbait what shot size have you gone with? Anything smaller than 3 is going to be brushed off by the zombies.

Thought I'd better get ready for Armageddon so slipped a caterers sized tub of Marmite and a gallon of pickled gherkins into the basket tonight. Will provide a mixed diet with the frozen profiteroles in the freezer.

I did a bit of shopping yesterday on way back from Wednesday night group ride. Mrs WF accused me of "hamster shopping" (must be a German term 🙂 ), as, in addition to her small list of bits and bobs, I bought 3 bags of pasta, 12 tins of Baked beans, 4 tins of mushy peas, 4 tins of chopped toms, and a 2 kilo bag of porridge oats. Like I told her, they won't go bad.

Also a slab of baked beans and a crate of Guinness.... Healthy balanced diet right there, so I've been told.

I'm trying not to drink my Armageddon port, bourbon or corona. Or eat my Armageddon twiglets and walkers popadoms.

TBH a small part of me wants it to kick off so I can have Christmas round two, eat, drink, tell my boss to ****ing do one for a few weeks and do nothing.

About 400 of these…. should keep the zombies away for a while.

If you hand reload all 400 of those with ball bearings instead of shot.

Good luck! I'd rather get eaten by the zombies 🙂
