Huge disappointment as a Leeds fan as didn't expect to win but did expect us to be at it. Plenty of our players just didn't perform today and made it easy for the opposition. Still think we'll stay up but we will get thumped a few more times along the way.

I quite liked the 'taking the knee' one but I don't really get the above one.

I like this also 🙂

I’d imagine it’s the type of thing that Max and Barry over at the Guardian football pod love...

Well this is a bit of a turn up for the books. Chelski are absolutely awful. They look like a side who thought that all they had to do today was turn up. Which they have so far failed to do. All good for us, watching them drop points.

The United Leicester game was a good’un earlier. A draw was a fair result. 2nd and 3rd, but I’m sure Liverpool will extend their lead tomorrow and probably add a load to their goal difference

That’s got the potential to be the worst game of football ever played. Basically you’ll have 20 defenders on the pitch

Liverpool have just been Big Sammed. I had a few quid on a draw too at 9/1 😃

As I Liverpool fan, I haven't been enjoying our football recently. So many teams are parking the bus and it doesn't make for good football. It reminds me of Barcelona in the Guardiola era with defenders sitting deep and no one willing to have a shot. Oxlade Chamberlain is about the only player willing to have a shot from slight distance but he's rubbish at everything else.

I appreciate it's the right tactics from opposition teams but my god it's dull.

As dull as Spurs?

Let’s be honest, Maureen has out-Sammed Big Sam this season

Apart from the 7-0 win presumably? 🙂

It is pretty dull in general though. And for Big Sam those tactics make sense but Spurs have a decent team and don't need to be so negative all the time.

Currently Spurs trying to hang on to a 1-0 lead from the 1st minute isn't looking too clever.

Well who’d have thunk it? Who could possibly have predicted that game plan?

Life’s too short to watch Spurs

It’ll be interesting to see how long it is until he inevitably loses the dressing room with ordering everyone to play in defence for 89 minutes every match in another dull dreary display of anti-football

It's not just bus parking, there was a good article in the Guardian a couple of days ago. The compressed season, the short off-season, the sheer number of games, has meant that teams cannot press and play at the high tempo that was so successful in the past couple of years.

The gegenpress is a high intensity activity and teams need to pick and choose when they can afford to employ it, the article says that teams are pressing 25% less than they did in previous seasons, so creating less turnovers when teams are out of position.

Very glad to see the 89 minute defensive strategy didn’t work.

Oh look, it's not the special ones fault. It's the players.....

After the game, Mourinho said it was never his intention to defend the slender lead and instead questioned his players for not showing more ambition to go for more goals.

How very predictable.

And so it begins. The Mourhino cycle.

Each time it happens the time frame gets compressed further. He’s even already selected Deli Alli for the Luke Shaw whipping boy role.

I wonder, with the transfer window about to open, how many players have already seen how this one plays our and have got their agents putting the feelers out, planning their escape?

Very glad to see the 89 minute defensive strategy didn’t work.

I'm getting pig sick of playing this way now and we deserve to get beaten playing this negative dross, I think that our attacking players are losing their sharpness as they're defending most of the time.

I didn't want Jose when he came to us, and those reservations have remained, but when we were on a winning streak I thought that I was wrong and maybe there was something in him (fickle, I know!). After four bad results in a row I can see us losing more as we can't seem to get away from this defensive rubbish, it goes against the culture of the club and I think that some of the players are having difficulty with it.

If we win a cup I'll have to eat my words, but it'll have to be a better cup than the League Cup.

That statement could have been written by any United fan a couple of seasons ago, and any Real Madrid fans a couple of seasons before that...

@binners The worrying thing is that I don't think that Utd have recovered from it yet.

We're getting there. We're playing some decent attacking football now under Ole. We're still nowhere near title contenders, but at least the football is watchable with some serious attacking intent, even if there have been some defensive horror shows along the way (not least against you).

I don't think Maureen was ever forgiven for going to Anfield and parking the bus to grind out a horrendously dull nil-nil in one of the worst games in premiership history.

You just don't do that. Better to go and play and risk getting hammered than turn up for that particular match already admitting that nil-nil is the best you can expect and think that that's fine.

Ole is actually doing pretty well, and signing Fernandes was probably the best bit of business anyone has done in the PL over the last couple of years. I'd still be surprised if he goes on to win big titles though.

City vs Everton game off due to covid cases at city. I don't see where city have the scheduling capacity to finish the season now, without withdrawing from a cup competition. Obviously if they get knocked at the next round in the CL or FA cup then the schedule starts to get easier. But if they go to any where near the end in both competitions, then there just isn't space in the schedule to play the matches.

United will be in business when Ole realises Martial is crap and plays Cavani up top and an attacking right back would be an improvement on Wan-Bissaka too. Going out of the Champs League might pay off in terms of the title and obviously they need to keep Bruno fit.

MSP - City have more or less two decent sides don’t they? I’m sure they’ll cope.

I can't believe this'll be the only game lost in the next few weeks, so suspect an extension may be in order to complete the season.

I'm sure a phone call from the Dirty Digger to Blojo should get football to the front of the vaccination queue.

It's not about the lack of players, it's when will the games be played? The game hasn't been called off because city can't field a team, but because they can't be sure who might be positive just yet, and need to do more tests to make sure it doesn't spread further.

This will put them 2 games behind, with no gap in the schedule to play them, and depending on how testing goes maybe the next game will be called off as well.

If the new covid strain keeps spreading, then it is almost inevitable that quite a few more games will be called off. But something has to give in the schedule for them to be played, the euros are in the summer so unless that is cancelled, domestic and European club competitions can't extend further into the summer break.

I can’t believe they bothered playing the internationals that have been played already.

They’re an increasingly pointless and irrelevant distraction that only contribute injuries, fatigue and now positive Covid tests.

They should put them all on hold until this is under some form of control and stop them getting in the way of domestic leagues.

Who would honestly miss them?

I suppose it’s all about money though, so they won’t

My sentiments exactly. If there was never another international ever played again, I certainly wouldn’t miss them.

A pointless anachronism that nowadays just seems to serve as a vehicle for corruption

😂😂

At least its a title race this year! Anyone could win it. Liverpool just look a bit sloppier this year, less clinical, all those 1 goal victories last year have turned into draws. Got a feeling City will put 6 or 7 wins on the bounce and pull away once Aguero is fit.

Absolutely cracking match, that. I watched the last 5 minutes through my fingers. Villa looked really good second half. Grealish in particular. He’s quality!

The table looks mental at the moment. 5th to 10th are all on the same points and easily in touch with the top four. You’d have to be mad to put money on what the top four will look like by the end of this bonkers season

United going to Anfield in a couple of weeks should be an absolute belter. I’m just thinking what that would be like with a full crowd in

Yes what a cracker - yet another Man U game settled by a very soft penalty.

By the standards of today’s game it was a penalty. Yes it was soft, but United aren’t benefitting from the decisions any more or less than anyone else is. That would have been given as a pen no matter who it was.

It’s just the way the game is at the moment with VAR. as a LiVARpool supporter, I’m sure you’re well aware of that 😉

Cracking game - Villa are decent, McGinn and Grealish in particular. I think this season has shown the so called smaller clubs they can have a go at the big boys and as a result the league is much more open.

One injury to Fernandes and United are out of it - Fabinho or Milner could take one for the team in a few weeks?!

Yes - Fernandes has undoubtedly had a massive influence. It’s unfair to say it’s all down to him. Pogba, Bailly and Shaw were clearly United’s best players last night. The team is now playing like one who had a pre season with individuals having more consistency. Ole still a bad result from press annihilation and speculation over his job though.

Yep agree, but he’s the catalyst. More important to United I think than Van Dijk, Allison or any of the front three are to Liverpool.

You’re right about Ole and the media.
