No, that's not the name of my new band.

This hire van has a black towball, looks like paint. The instructions for the stabiliser hitch on my van say to remove any paint from the towball.

Question is, is it really paint? Or is the metal just black? Seen lots of black towballs around but I don't recall seeing one with paint worn off from use.

Is there a different charge for towing? Could it be for the hire company to tell if you've been towing or not?

My new towball was black when fitted. By the time I'd towed the van home (6 or 7 miles) it was bare metal where the stabiliser had rubbed through the paintwork.

Just tow it, hitch stabilisers are so widespread now that I can't see towball manufacturers making towballs that weren't ready for use out of the box
