MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
never done it before. What to expect? Any secrets? Tips? Suggestions?
It doesnt hurt as much as people make out. Learn to grit your teeth and pretend you werent hit 🙄
fear of getting hit will be the biggest impediment to successful completion of your missions.
8)
if you get hit once are you out?
Depends on the game. The rules vary between scenarios. It'll be explained before each game.
What should you exspect?? - Bruises and a mouthfull of paint and a small bit of pain depending on where you get hit ( I found the neck and the nuts to be the worse).
Any secrets? Tips? Suggestions? - Find a good hiding place, and take a big wallet. If your anything like me you will use all your pellets in about 2 games.
Remember to "melee" you opponent if you get close enough. Also I find shouting "fix bayonets" before charging into the enemy compound can freak them out a little. 😆
NEVER EVER EVER lift your visor when a game is still on.
take loads of cash as you will want to buy loads more pellets.
Buy your own paintballs and stick them in the freezer the day before your event.
waihiboy, where you a biker grove fan when you were young lol. Being serious but he is right, cause I direct hit in the eye could result in blindness.
I always take old decorating clothes that I don't mind getting muddy/knackered to wear under the overalls they give you. It takes the edge of the paintballs.
I have been to places where they seem to run the guns at a lower pressure and they hardly sting (or cause a mark) when you get hit, and other places where the paintballs really sting. So, I think it just depends where you go as to how much they hurt.
If you have some old mtb gloves take them too, as the ones you (might) get lent out to you are normally crappy & stinky. Or buy your own.
EDIT: Also.....your visor will more than likely mist up. Try and do it up as tight as possible to stop your breath getting into the 'visor' area of the mask and regularly clean it. They sometimes have 'anti-mist' sprays available, but I find they always make it worse.
They're all right about the money, BTW.
If you're with mates, make sure you all have some form of identification - scarves are good. Everyone looks the same in facemask & cammo.
Why waste your time shooting strangers when you can inflict pain on your friends 😀
take twice as much money as you think you need
buy loads of flashbangs and paint grenades, they work very well in buildings 😈
take a packet of screen wipes for your visor, they are normally scratched to buggery.
my ex pro paintballer boss used to say stay crouched and cover your biggest targets (chest etc) as balls are more likely to bounce off round things like arms and legs and use dirt to wipe off paint if you get hit
Park on the side of the carpark that is furthest away from the buildings / area where the games are held. the 'paint' washes off, but the casings can be a bugger to get off if they have melted on to your bodywork in the sun
Agree with the comment re taking your own gloves.
Be prepared for lots of hanging around doing nothing waiting for other games to finish.
If you really want to get serious, get some Army Surplus DPM gear, then you can properly hide and shoot people as they go past.
Oh, and if you shoot someone and they don't 'surrender' just keep whacking them in the same spot. That soon gets them up & dancing like Marty McFly in BTTF III!!! 😀
EDIT - I keep thinking of things......be careful with your hopper/ammo. At some point I guarantee you, you will not close your hopper properly or your hopper will fall from your gun and you will lose a heap of paintballs.....just keep checking it regularly and make sure the lid SNAPS home.
oh and there is a paintballing program on eurosport every now and then 😆
For training, you should definitely check out Halo or Gears of War - meleeing is a good way to save paintballs when in close quarters. Also, it's acceptable when someone's down to roll them over and shoot them in the nads. Arguing about where you're shot is generally fine - for example, pointing out that you were hit in the arm and hence would be OK as long as you had a tourniquet to hand is certain to make you lots of friends.
Oh, and take your bike - being able to ride through the battlefield quickly is a definite advantage.
That should cover it all, I think
Edit: a guy at work's just told me about his mate who got hit in the nads and plssed himself as a result. So take a cup, I think*!!
*-to cover yourself, not to plss into
dont run like michael johnson or your paintballs will smash in the hopper and jam the gun! learnt that one the hard way.
If you are a sweaty sod like me, get hold of some anti fogging spray or wipes for your goggles, nothing worse than been shot at and not being able to see where its coming form, again never try cleaning them or taking them off while the game is on.
Worst place to be hit for me is the ear, so a buff might help keeping the brunt of it out of your ears.
Good footwear
They can bruise, but you will be buzzing so much that pain wise its not an issue.
Buy your own paintballs and stick them in the freezer the day before your event.
Mike, you are evil 😉
Yep take money, lost count of how many paintballs I went through last time. Second (or third or whatever) the comment about gloves, I got hit in the hand a few times and the gloves really take the sting out of the shot. Wear an old hoody or something under the overalls, a bit of extra padding around the neck/ears will always be nice.
Above all though, have fun - oh and remember to shoot your mates, and keep on shooting until they go down squeeling like little girls!
dialledmike, on Jasons mate stagdoo Jason and Curtis were saying they were 'out to get me' and I was gulping abit thinking how much the pellets must hurt, funnily when the game started their team were trapped in their base and in dissaray. Our team moved as one (seriously), it was uncanny how we out flanked, moved and rolled forward covering each other silently. Well there was the sound of the groom to be being shot in the back at point-blank range by his own team reverberating around the forest 😆
Try and wear a hat if you have a shaved or cross-cropped hair. The pellets bouncing off your skull smarts alittle. I had a fat lip/blood/paint mouth from shot at point-blank range in the mouth when I crept round a stone outcrop and was shot!
If you are careful, you dont have to spend loads- just make your shots count. One lad went through almost 100quid and he was on constant rapid fire. Plus, when they say dont pick up pellets off the floor (ignore it)- our guns didnt jam and in part I think the organisers say this as they know errors (opening the pod by accident) mean more pellet sales.
As a rule, when you were hit you had to peel off your assualt and walk back to the base for a time penalty then start allover again so silence when hit is essential 😉
Finally I would definitely recommend running around- being involved as much as possible- its soo much more fun than worrying, sitting there scared of being hit etc.
I once played with a sprained ankle so I found some long grass near to our base and laid down in it as I couldn't run.
I must have hit about 7 or 8 people square in the knackers from a very close range. Hilarious fun!!
- take lots of cash
- make sure you cover up your neck (a mate got shot in the little dimple where your collarbones meet in the middle and screamed like a little girl)
- don't leave your paintballs in the gun when you go back to base
- if they have raised wooden hideouts, do not crouch over any knots in the wood which a paintball could be fired up (the same guy who got shot in the neck also got shot right up the rusty sheriff badge - unlucky!)
Are, yes, just remembered......
Don't shot any ladies that are playing, in the nipple area, they take it very personally for some reason.
😉
Baseball cap on backwards is a great help for protecting the back of your neck, gives a little bit of protection for the rest of your head too.
Wear sturdy boots - broken ankles are not fun, and most trainers clog up with mud and become useless anyway.
If you've got MTB kneepads (and maybe elbows too) take them and wear them. All the better for stylishly sliding into a piece of cover 😀
Finally I would definitely recommend running around- being involved as much as possible- its soo much more fun than worrying, sitting there scared of being hit etc.
Absolutely - so many people see the paintballs flying and just hide behind something. Then they spend a fortune on paint, trying to hit people from miles away. If you actually get up and move you're a pretty tricky thing to hit (especially if you're going across, rather than towards someone) and as long as you've got some cover to get to it would be a lucky shot to get you.
Ideally if you're in a group of friends try to get some tactics going so you actually have a plan. Even if not, try to team up with someone else so that one can give covering fire (even just firing randomly at bits of cover to keep people's heads down) while the other moves.
Buying the paintballs, group together and buy a whole box of them - cheaper than everyone buying packets of their own
For the next couple of weeks you should have alot of impressive bruises allover to show the missus. If you havent you werent involved in the game IMO 😀
Don't use any millitary stratagy or training.
Get a small suicide squad to run in and draw fire, then you ca see where the enemy are and filter out to pick them off.
And take lots of money
full finger MTB gloves are a very very good idea
If it moves, shoot it. Repeatedly.
If it looks like it's going to move, shoot it repeatedly.
If you thought you saw it move but now it's stopped and you're not sure.....shoot it repeatedly.
Take a load of cash with you, if you're as trigger happy as me!
As above, aim for the neck or nadgers and wait until you see the whites of their eyes. Remember if they're on your team and a bit of a muppet, nothing in the rules that say you cant shoot them as well....they're just taking one for the good of the team!
The most painful thing that happened on our day- I dived to get some cover and landed on a short root into my thigh, as I was quietly open-mouth screaming (trying to avoid detection) someone walked up and shot me in my ****ing back a few times. Then he walked off- I still remember trying to have a go but nothing came out of my mouth due to the pain!!
waihiboy, where you a biker grove fan when you were young lol. Being serious but he is right, cause I direct hit in the eye could result in blindness.
LOL, "SPOOGIE MEEE EYEEZZZZ MUN"
1) If one of your team is on the floor in the prone position shoot him in the bollocks from behind then run away.
2) If you drop your paint balls on the floor and they get even slightly damp don't put them back in the gun. It will jam up
3) If one of your team is on the floor in the prone position shoot him in the bollocks from behind then run away. So funny it has to be done twice.
