Has anyone managed to overcome it? Anyone had CBT for it? Anyone got any tricks, or secrets methods for sidestepping it?

Obviously, I'm wondering if posting a thread on STW, about overcoming it, is just taking mastering it to a whole new level!

I've seen that multiple times before. I particularly like the line that follows this one "its the best one we've ever seen".

I use a simple process of loving my future self. I’ll do anything to make that bloke happy which often involves getting shit done so he doesn’t have to. It’s not perfect but helps.

I tend to put off thinking about this stuff until tomorrow.

Yes. And the techniques worked very well. Its all about fear of / acceptance of the unknown, removing the "what if" spiral from your brain appropriately.

My first thought...

Following this with interest as, being self-employed, I find this tough AF. "I'll just check out STW before starting this task" turns into 2 hours of just mooching, and a feeling of anxiety/ depression/ disappointment in how little I've actually done

There are more words in this post than I have typed for a submission due in next week.

Kryton57, was that CBT you did? With a pro, or from a book/online?

NHS face to face councillor. I started for Fear of Flying, which over 16 weeks addressed the personality / mental traits that were actually causing the problem, and as it turns out a lot of other problems such as procrastination where are/where generic to my character.

I find making a list and ticking items off helps, seeing a few items ticked off spurs me on to keep going.

Saying that, some days nothing helps and I spend more energy putting stuff off than if I just did it.

It is important to approach a task with a cleared mind to be able to do it efficiently as well as to assess whether it needs doing at all. It often takes some time to sufficiently clear one's mind.

People who are not expert in efficiency mistake this for procrastination.

Hope this helps. 🙂
