Mrs M has not seen "The Yellow submarine"

She confessed that she has never heard of "Blue Meanies"

That's tantamount to abuse!

Well I'm resolving that as of mid week when it arrives on blu-ray!

(She thinks I'm bonkers)

I'm with Flashy on this and Yellow Submarine is dire. Also, what's a Blue Meanie?

I too have no idea what a blue meanie is.

Oh, and I started watching Yellow Submarine a long time ago but decided it's crap and stopped.

They used to show Yellow Submarine every Christmas on TV when i was a kid.

[quote

The Blue Meanies are a fictional army of fierce, if buffoonish, music-hating creatures in the surreal 1968 Beatles film Yellow Submarine. They allegorically represent all the bad people in the world.

"Blue Meanies" are what Edinburgh locals call the council traffic wardens.

That proves a definite lack of musical taste, as a great many people with far greater talent in music than anyone on here, will attest to just how good, and how important to music the Beatles were.
Many artists tried to create their own version of Sgt Pepper, sadly, every one failed, including The Stones album, which was rubbish.
Anyone who says The Beatles were/are rubbish is just an idiot; fine to say you don't like them, but otherwise it's just a public display of ignorance.
I really do not like the Manics, for a number of perfectly good reasons, but I would never, ever say they're rubbish, as it would be patently untrue.

I reckon a top Chef could tell me that a certain dish isn't crap, but if it tastes like burnt arse to me, then burnt arse it is. It's no different with music. Taste varies.

Flame on, but the Beatles were good for their time. They now, however, sound very, very dated and cheesy. Other bands from the era have aged much better IMO. Flashy is entitled to say they are crap. One man's great band is the next man's worst band ever.

Just because the world likes something, it doesn't make it good. Beatles were whining Scousers with awful voices and repetative sounds.
