Have been trying to get this sorted for the last two days. I can receive mails but not send them.

Task 'work - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Task 'xxx@xxxusing.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80040126) : 'The operation cannot be performed because the connection to the server is offline.'

Have checked with the ISP, have re-installed MSE, other anti virus software and Outlook communicator. Any help would be much appreciated as I need to send some important docs.

Depending on what mail server you are connecting to, I reckon you've hit a mailbox size limit - they can be set to restrict sending at a certain limit, but still receive. Delete some mail and try again.

As a workaround, try a different email client if you've got an urgent need to send something. This is also a helpful troubleshooting step.

My first thought was that the size of the docs is too large for the recipient email server to accept. Just to check, is it -all- email affected? Can you send simple messages without attachments to that recipient, or to a different address?

Are you using the ISP's SMTP server or something else? Has the ISP changed SMTP settings to require encryption or authentication?

What version of Outlook?

As an aside,

have re-installed MSE, other anti virus software

Running more than one desktop AV concurrently is a tremendously bad idea. Is that what you're doing?

Am running MSE and Malwarebytes, have never had this issue before but take your point and will disable the later.
Have tried sending a mail with no text to another email address no luck.
Yep using ISP SMTP server and they tell me no settings have been changed on their side.

Does the ISP have a webmail interface, and can you send from that?

Not the dreaded 0x800CCC0F 😯

Hate Microsoft codes! As it could be 1 of a million things! I would double check your mail settings, a worker had the same thing, and he swears he hadn't changed anything, but things were different!
