When I said No, it's Bonfire/ Guy Fawkes she asked what the difference is

An Italian guy I was working with asked “What’s with all the French guys? They’re all soo arrogant and I’m much better at this than they are!”
He wasn’t totally wrong, but still….

i was just listening to a podcast on guy fawkes. It turns out that at his execution, it was ordered that an effigy of guy fawkes be burnt every nov 5, to remind catholics not to argue with protestants.
So all these years Ive been celebrating for the wrong reasons.
