....I've got a BT Home Hub v2 which I believe is a N wireless thingie.

I've also got a Belkin N150 dongle on my desktop.

If I upgrade the dongle to a straight N one or fit a N wireless card in the back of the PC will I get a bit more range and a bit more speed from the hub?

At present I only have 2-3 bars on the signal strength and would like a bit more. All I do is web page surfing, not much downloading and no games/movies/tv on-line.

If so any recommendations for cheap and good N USB things or PC cards?

Thanks for any help.

Tim

Does it ever not work? If it always works not worth the money!

It drops out every now and then and when it gets to two bars it's v.slow.

Sounds like both are N and that means you should get good speeds but wireless is pretty unpredictable.

I would see if you can change the wireless frequency on the Home Hub, not sure how its done but usually achieved by typing the address (192.168.0.1) into your web browser and then looking for wireless!

Hmmm.

Change channels might work - use netstumbler to find a free / less busy one.

Get away from motors (washing machines / heating pumps etc) as they can be "noisy" and affect it.

Worst case get a n card with a big ariel. The edimax ones are good and cheap - I got one from ebuyer for about £15 with a 5db antenna. Might work for you...
