Recently bought a new Canon camera - have installed software/drivers it came with, but when I connect with USB, get the 'MTP USB Device - failure' message - I think it's error code 31.
Have run compatibility check on microsoft and downloaded the latest drivers from canon but still no joy (must have spent 4hours faffing last night).
Have scoured t'web but nothing conlcusive.
If the above means anything to anyone, do you have any ideas? or am I resigned to having to buy a memory card reader.
Computer running Windows 7 64bit.
Cheers.
Are you sure there isn't something wrong with the camera?
Also, memory card readers are cheap as chips, so it's no big loss if you have to get one.

I do hope not - looking on forums etc, this isn't an isolated case generally windows 7 appears to be crap for this kind of thing.
Just annoyed having spent decent money on a camera and computer that things don't just work and I have to buy something else to workaround.
I should prob just add this to the first world problem thread I suppose. 😥
