So, as part of the I-can't-believe-we're-this-far-past-spring clear out of the North household, I'd like to tackle (or more accurately, pay someone else to tackle):
- Scanning the few thousand photo prints we have from the last 20 years. We can then bin the prints and keep the negatives in far less space
- Copying the handful of irreplaceable videos we have (e.g. a school play I was in as a kid, which my folks would love to see)
- Copying the cassettes I have of music I can't otherwise get elsewhere (radio recordings of concerts)
- Finding someone to come and take away and securely shred the bags of old bank statements, mobile phone bills etc from far too long to remember
Got any suggestions of who's good for any of these? (I appreciate the shredding's a bit of a local thing, so anyone between Liverpool and Manchester and surrounds).
Oh, and any other thoughts on how to get this done well - it's a bit of a one time hit!
Cheers
Yes, on reflection it is a rather tedious topic for a Friday.
As you were!
😆
I did start a reply but came to the same conclusion you've arrived at 😀

Take them into work if you have facilities there?
Probably worthwhile investing in a crosscut shredder, unless you're planning on never needing to dispose of personal documents ever again.
stilltortoise, you are truly honest and wise.
cougar - have a posy small thing, but have several massive bags of it.
I could load up office bins, but I guess I'm never 100% about how that stuff is handled.

Burn them ?

Ah, we have secure "Shred-it" bins here when are regularly collected. shredit.co.uk according to the sticker on the front, 0800 024 1164. Whether they'd do a one-off domestic collection I've no idea.
A friend of mine in Frodsham runs a small business scanning old photos, turning old videos into DVDs etc. Any use? Not sure about the shredding though!
Burn them ?
^ This!
