Ive just got one of those fancy new mobile wifi thingy's delivered. It cant connect to the network so I faff around on my mobile and found a number to call on Oranges website - 07973 100 980.
Yes, I know it seems odd dialling a mobile number to get to customers services... Anyway I got through to a guy who sounded a bit odd but thoughtlessly gave him my sim number, mobile number and account number. He then said he would have to put me though to his supervisor. The line went quite for a few seconds then I was cut off.
Scam?
Can they do anything with those details? Clone the sim card I guess.
Google the number. Seems legit to me.
Yeah it looks that way, but if I call another one of their customer services numbers 07973 100 150 I get through to someones voicemail box!
Im calling from a vodafone mobile if that makes any difference.
07973 100 150 is Orange Customer Services (or 150 if you're calling from an Orange mobile).
The scam is calling a mobile number which obviously costs a lot more. 🙁
I've phoned them a couple of times recently cos my phone was playing up (I called from an O2 mobile). No problems with them. Eventually I went into an Orange shop where they sorted me out with a new SIM (my old one had become corrupt) and put me on the phone to Customer Services for me to give them the necessary details to activate the new SIM. All surprisingly painless and quick.
But yes, it's the correct number.
