I've done 2/3 of an OU Maths degree (many moons ago when I was bored). I then switched to their MSC Maths course which was very tough, but buying a run down house put paid to the concept of spare time so I spend the next 10 years doing that up.

Their course material is excellent and I really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend the OU.

Mrs G did ou maths degree took 7 yrs and 3 kids to complete!
She put massively more work into that than her other 'proper 'degree from sheffield poly. Dont underestimate the commitment needed. IMHO it is a better degree than most real ones. Sadly a lot of employers etc are not clued up on the motivation/commitment required.Summer school sounds like a blast tho 😀

Speaking as a competitor, they're very good. I think there's probably still a little snobbery in how the degrees are perceived but not much in the eyes of anyone who has a clue.

I had to find 15 hours a week during term time to do my course workload (60 points a year). I did three hours every evening Monday to Friday.

I've got the course materials for MST 121 and MS 221 cluttering up the place - you're welcome to them to get a feel of what their materials are like if you can pick them up (central Scotland)or for the price of postage.

I've just completed an MBA with the OU.
It was mostly good, but a couple of the tutors were not the best - but you can get that with any institution.
If you do decide to do it, you need to be ultra organised and make sure you get the support of work AND family or it will be very tough.

Good luck

Can't comment on having done it, but I'm currently going through a HND in engineering systems and looking to undertake an OU course next year alongside work.

Taylorplayer where are you? I'm edinburgh based, and wouldn't mind taking it off you.
