Not bikey, but seeing as there's a few techies here...
Trying to configure an iPad for someone to do email. Their mail host (eclipse) locks down SMTP to just their connections. They agree it's outdated policy but not helping solve the problem.
This ipad is about to go on a round the world trip so needs an 'open' smtp account. Tried configuring the eclipse email to send via the apple mail.me.com smtp settings but it rejects the sending address.
Is there any other way of sending via another SMTP address?

Open a gmail account and use that?
Edit - you're unlikely to find a completely open SMTP relay these days as they would be a conduit for SPAM. They tend to be either tied to relaying messages from a particular network or authenticated and only send emails for a certain set of addresses (or both).
Haven't got a google account - not finding much else online so i'll open one and try that. Cheers!
