Does anyone subscribe to online newspapers instead of reading print? Since some of the links, I sometimes follow take me to a broadsheet I was thinking about trying out for a year.

I subscribe to the New York Times and the Washington Post, as much to support serious journalism as for the high quality of all the content. They're very reasonably priced for what you get. There are no newspapers in the UK that I'd support in the same way.

NYT and Guardian these days. Seem well balanced and no cash to Rupert

I subscribed to the Independent for a year or so until August and then switched to the Guardian.

I still visit the Independent site on a daily basis, but it's a bit thin these days. Like they've only got 2 or 3 domestic journalists all having to cover everything that's going on. Tom Peck has to wear a couple of hats; cynical political sketchwriter (brilliant) and straighforward reporter (dull). Their Middle East coverage, Patrick Cockburn, Robert Fisk, Kim Sengupta) is still amazing, if maybe a little biased.

The Guardian is better, but the online only seems to contain 20% of the articles in the printed one. I can't do without my daily John Crace fix.

Both papers want to let you know that Brexit is unworkable. Which I imagine would be unbearable if you were daft enough to think otherwise.

I subscribe to The Guardian and STW...

I keep thinking about the FT, but it's a little over priced for me.

I read the Gridion too..

I find the words and font too big in the Whailing Daily for me to comprehend.

I'll come clean... I subscribe to The Times.

It's silly cheap at the moment for their digital pack, but after 3 months it goes up to normal levels, at which point I'm not sure I'll continue.

The content is a bit thin compared to the print edition, but main articles are there. Frankly, I'd consider it worthwhile for Matthew Syed's stuff alone.

Otherwise, use the Grauniad, and 'subscribe' to help them take on the rest of the dross out there.

Would like to go to the FT too, but as others say, cost is prohibitive for me. Probably priced for corporate expense accounts.

The Guardian app is excellent and you get Observer articles included.

Is there a decent news app that gives you access to the best content/articles from all newspapers?

Again, The Guardian.

Great app, and good quality news ( something that is missing in most of the UK press).

Newsnow.co.uk scans all media sources to give up to the minute links to reports on any subject.

I only use it myself for news articles on Aston Villa, and don't know how effective it is on other stuff.

The big problem with it, and any other news site, is the crazy way that all newspaper sites seem to bombard you with big shouty adverts that plaster themselves all over the screen, blast through the speakers and seemingly do all they can to make the article you started reading half a second ago impossible to find.

I've even considered subscribing to Birmingham Mail to allow me to uninterruptedly browse for articles on the aforesaid mighty Villa, but it seems they're more interested in raising my stress levels than raising revenue.

The Guardian. Its the only sane newspaper, and keeps me in my comfort zone of firmly believing that all tories are utter ****s and the whole concept of Brexit is total madness

Well I am not that politically aligned (most times) so it's mainly news content and sport.
Looks like I'll try the guardian.
Thanks.
