I'm looking to replace my aging and dying Sennheiser PXC 250 noise cancelling headphones, I'm looking at the Bose QC15 and Beats Studio 2.0
I know there are haters for both and normally they are priced the same, however at the moment there is £50 difference in the favor of the Beats.
I've listened to both and at the same price would pick the Bose over the Beats but I'm not sure at £50 if it's still the case.
Any qualified opinions?
20 quid sonys.
If between the two you've stated and you've auditioned both I'd go for whichever is more comfortable and, to you, sounds the better. That's kinda serious money anyway so whats £50...
Can you give me a link to the £20 Sony over ear noise cancelling headphones which sound as good or better the the two I've mentioned please.
earphones don't need to be over ear to be immersive, they just need to create a seal on your inner ear.
Big earphones are decent, but 230 quids worth of decent? nah, yer aff yer nut..
but each to their own, i'm only giving an opinion.
Never managed to listen to the Beats studio 2's, but they are supposed to be better than the cheaper Beats; less bass emphasis. I have a pair of the Solo HD's, bought from eBay for £70, and the reviews are correct, they are bass-heavy, and vocals are somewhat muffled.
However, I bought them knowing they were compromised, and that I could alter the sound with an eq app on my phone.
If you're using them with a stereo, then they might not be ideal, but if you're using them with a phone, or iPod Touch, then installing an eq app means you can get the sound exactly the way you like it.
My Solo's sound excellent now I've got the sound tweaked, and are really comfy to boot.
And were cheap...
seosamh77, thanks for response, I am particularly interested in the noise cancelling function and find the over ears block out more ambient noise to start with.
I have some Grados for home use so am just after something for planes trains etc and out and about so source will be a portable player.
Its like saying Carbon is decent but thousands more decent?
Each to your own.
I like Bose and use their speakers and headphones so a little biased when giving an opinion but find them excellent, great sound and in the case of headphones very comfortable
Try Ue 900s, super comfy folding design.
Sound great
If spending more money and receiving less performance gains applied to anything, it's probably bikes!bigtimebones - Member

Noise canceling is a waste of time. Shures for me every time. What was the question?
If you want noise cancelling for flying consider the IEM shures as it is easier to sleep with IEMs.
The IEMs seal your ear canals so provide a lot of noise cancellation without the drawbacks of electronic noise cancellation, which doesn't work at all well for transient noises like talking/babies crying/etc.
Both those headphones listed sound mediocre to poor - I have some Shure SRH840s which are much superior. The Beats stuff is just for fashion victims, and most Bose stuff is for those gullible folks that are susceptible to marketing.
I would go for some of the Shures at your price point, I have SE535s which are excellent.
