I had a brother, he was 17 years younger than me and separated geographically by some distance.
We were never close.
30 years later he moved to the same town as me but we were still not close....then one day we discovered we had a shared passion for angling. As a child he was diagnosed with a rare cancer which left him physically weak so fishing was his chosen past time.
For two years we spent many hours at the water's edge....just enjoying the quiet, and our shared interest, but without the need for forced conversation. Just us together.
This morning at 32 years old he took his last cast and he will be sadly missed but I am grateful we got to spend those precious hours together at the water's edge.

May you rest in peace
May your casts be true.....and always at the sun.

Farewell Sam.

That's a bittersweet post. Glad you got to spend good time together at the end.

Hope you and all who knew your brother are as OK as can be.

Nicely put there, dignified. My sympathies.
