Not one for the purists but my dad wants a small simple to use CD/DAB system

Bluetooth and/or wifi would be a bonus, as would FM radio if the DAB signal is poor

Denon systems seem to be well reviewed but also thinking a one box system would avoid trailing wires and wouldn't sound that much worse

Any recommendations

From my limited knowledge there's the Denon DM41, Marantz MCR661 and Yamaha CRXN470D (I just happen to have a couple windows open on the pc atm, okay.... 😳 ).

I have both the Denon and the Marantz. Can't say I can tell much difference in sound quality and both do what I want them to do (more or less). I'm preferring the Marantz at present. I like the look of the Yamaha, there was a thread recently where someone was getting one....

The Marantz and Yamaha also do streaming.

Google richer sounds mini Hi-Fi....

that would be me, very happy with the yamaha. there was nowt in it really but the salesbod said the yamaha was more 'futureproof' with its multi-room and mobile app capabilty so went for that. probably got more features than your dad needs, but id recommend it if its in budget.

No indication of £, but if you can stretch to it I'd be looking at Raurk R4 for an unobtrusive, conventionally styled 1 box solution.
Without the CD player, if your quick, John Lewis & Sevenoaks HiFi have £150 of the Naim Qb as a Black Friday promotion.

Just bought one of my kids a Panasonic, hits your criteria, not sure on your definition of good sound as it is so personal.

From Curries they have a few models £70 and up.

Hope that helps.

The Denon should easily do this.

Yamaha with Mission LX speakers would be <£400 (from richer sounds website, ignore bundle as individual prices are cheaper...). https://www.richersounds.com/packages/crxn470d-bundle-deals/yamaha-crxn470d-black-and-mission-lx2-black-1.html

that would be me

That it would. Good to hear you're happy with it 😀
