It seems very hard to find clear info on Olympics events and where to watch it. Anyone know of a good site ? Eg when is the men’s road race, 4 x 100m, Adam peaty race?

The guardian can help with the schedule in uk time, still trying to find the best place to watch myself. Noticed that bbc coverage takes over bbc1 all day tomorrow.

Eurosport on Sky TV listings makes things pretty clear on things like the Road races, mtb races etc.

There's a lot and some goes on for days so it's hard to have a simple wall planner. The BBC has a day by day guide

Does anyone actually know if we can watch the MTB'ing on the BBC ?

I've been looking at the iPlayer and it shows coverage, but none of the actual details listed for Monday do not include Mountain biking.

BBC have fewer rights than before - they are now secondary to Eurosport (which is discovery). So they don't have the multisport options from previous years. I think it's just the TV coverage plus one stream. This is what is making it hard to see what's on when. And also means lots won't be live at all.

I'm going to bite the bullet and subscribe to discovery+ to get the full multi stream experience back.

More detail from the Beeb

*EDIT* apologies, there's not much detail there at all...

That does sound like a bit of a death knell to many of us giving a crap about it this time around.

It's odd, I'm struggling more and more to care about the Olympics. I don't have a clue (without googling) where it will be held next after this and I'm sure in years past I'd have known that stuff. The broadening of the appeal with additional sports seems to have had the opposite effect on me.

I've next to no clue who GB's Gold hopefuls are or come to that the hot favourites in the blue ribbon events like the 100m.

The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced

…so long as you can afford the subscription fee.

As usual, I suspect I can blame the tories that I have to pay.

Well I think we were spoiled when it was held here, it was all over the TV. Then even in Brazil I remember watching the mountain biking on the BBC.

Not sure why this time we cant see it. Shame as we do actually stand a chance of getting a medal, if not even Gold, in the men's mountain biking. I cant be bothered with any other sports, but Tom Pidcock has actually beaten all the others, or come very close on the XC races he entered this year.

We also stand an outside chance of a medal in the women's, Evie has been bloody close this year in her XC races.

The answer is above - buy a discovery+ pass and it would appear you can stream everything. £6.99 a month or take a 3 day trial.

Completely ridiculous - it's the Olympics, the inclusive sports event for nations across the world, you can only watch virtually (which should be a leveller), and the UK general public can't watch Team GB without paying for it

Bit confused by this...

Admitteddly, they are not so forthcoming in terms of which exact events will be on which channel at which time, but...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/57822560

000's of hours of wall-to-wall coverage on the BBC....?

(I'm watching it now, in my office on the spare screen via the (free) website and my partner is watching it on the TV on the (free) Digital TV broadcast...? )

I'll switch on for a bit, but it drags on, and they're a bit dull, aren't they?

The 2012 one was brilliant, this one so far is a bit, er, 'conceptual'

snotrag - can you actually watch the Mountain biking on BBC then ?

Or do we have to pay for that ?
Basically that's all I want to see but feel a bit pissed if I have to pay for it.
I've looked but I cant see it being shown on BBC, I may be wrong however.

Discovery+ is free to Vodafone users at the moment (six months I think?).

The £4.99 option gives you all the Olympics stuff, you miss out on Eurosport though if that's an issue.

I've got the Discovery+ app up on my TV, I don't know if it's going to improve any but at the moment Tokyo 2021 is on the Home screen but isn't a separate channel. I may be just being dim but the "What's on" seems to be a row of icons in order of event, with all sports on the same timeline. Bit shit tbh.

Guardian: BBC Olympics coverage misses events after loss of TV rights

[the BBC] confirmed that the era of widely accessible free coverage of all Olympic sports was over. “The BBC is no longer able to offer livestreams of every sport during the Olympics due to the terms of the licensing arrangements laid down by the rights holder, Discovery,” they said.

Maybe I’m overreacting and reading too far into this, but I’m really sad about this and really reluctant to Chuck a (small for me) handful of pounds at discovery.
