I put YouTube on in the background whilst looking for replacement 29er tyres for a friend. He did his first XC race this weekend and wanted something with a bit more grip against roots and in corners than his bike's stock (and worn) Maxxis Ikons. Yes, they are fast rolling, but he had some shaky moments today and so wanted something a bit more planted.

ANYWAY... YouTube. A random suggestion threw up a gig from Altern8 from 2 days ago!

I'm not saying it takes me back, but it takes me back!

Mark Archer is immense , being a 52 year old house head with grown up kids I've got right back into going out (out). Not so much Rave but old house and disco . Check out Seamus Haji and Dj Spen for great mixes on mixcloud. My son has got fairly good and makes a decent wee side hustle so I use his decks quite a bit.

House music all night long....

Tune.  I got that on an EP on Network label, plus a load of other stuff on the same label. I'm going to have to dig them out now......

Oh dear. Love the music as it is my old scene etc but the gig in the original video should not have happened. Crowd just didn't get it and probably just thought get the grandads off.

Never been a fan of MCs though, so I'd have probably walked away 😉

Aw, was rather hoping you had also passed through Castle Douglas tonight and witnessed the car crash appeal of 'Bounce Bingo'.

Boiler Room sets usually like that, most of the crowd are there to be seen or film it on their phones. The sets can be good tho. Can be the same with anything where the crowd faces the DJ* and you get DJs doing the 'I just touched a red hot dial' flicks .. ffs it's just a cut off or EQ, stop jessying about because you can't scratch or cut.

*this does not apply to Carl Cox who you could all watch all night long

Nexus 21... what a tune

Boiler Room vids are a great way to make anything look boring as ****, half the folk you see are chatting to each other whilst side eyeing the camera to make sure they're still in shot and the rest look like they're paid extras that would rather be anywhere else.

@minichops quite a lot of good day clubs popping up in Scotland . Check out MFSB in edinburgh Disciples of disco in Bathgate and Afro boogie in Uddingston . Also a friend does 'The Get down as part of Luvinleith events. He did one last week with Bert Bevans from studio 54 and the ministry which was excellent.

As for Boiler rooms my favourites are still Frankie Knuckles and Optimo .

https://soundcloud.com/feelmybicep/bicep-bbc-radio-1-after-hours-mix

This is so good... Bicep playing a load of early 90s classics they've remixed and slowed down. 7 years old but I'd missed it until now.

Ah...Mark's such a good DJ and a properly solid guy

We had him on our radio show (that we're currently taking a breather from due to life) a while back - but folks can check the show out here

We're still throwing the occasional party round Chester if anyone fancies a real-life dance at any point. Nice crowd, good range of folks, nice venues 😉
