Without dropping the gear box oil

Twice ive had mines off , once when i swapped the spring and shortly after the strutt top bearing went

Ive tried two different methods haynes way and a way i found on a forum , ive got spring compressors and both times the drive shafts had to come down just that bit too far.

Haynes manual specifically says not to remove the hub as i would on certain other cars , or on a mans car you have beam axels , much easier

Done now though and its ready for mot without going crunch crunch !

Dont have a haynes for the mans car , only thng it needs for dissassembly is a 4 inch grinder and a hammer

bump for the day crowd as i genuinely am interested in how to do this .... it must be possible - ive seen a method suggested on a forum using ratchet straps to counter the poor clearance round the strutt (makes it a mare to get the spring compressors in) but i just dont feel entirly safe with that idea :S

Can you not remove the driveshaft from the hub and then support it somewhere out of the way whilst you go at the suspension assembly with a sledgehammer and angle grinder?

that involves removing hte castelated nut that it specifically tells me not to remove.

(im using womans tools on this car - you know things like the correct spanners and sockets. )

Its the act of manuvering the end of the shock out of the hub clamp and then out from under the arch that requires the drive shaft to drop too low.

A Haynes Manual is known as a Book of Lies (BOL) for very good reason.

indeed , but they cleverly seal them up in the shops so you cant see what you need to see to see if its help ful but with such gems as " remove the shock assembly from the car" covering all the areas i am needing help on i wonder if they had ever seen a peugeot partner when they wrote it ๐Ÿ˜€

ive replaced the springs and shock top mounts - drivers side was easy as pie , the drive shafts longer

and at that its because i hit a kerb very hard with the passengers side due to a tractor pulling out from a side road infront of me without looking/stopping.

shocks work fine.
