Scorching start from the Windies... looking ominous for England here!

How crap are england at the one day game?

Selection is inept, tactics are old-fashioned and inexplicable and the skill seems to have gone on holiday.

Gayle was humiliating us, thank god he's gone. This could still go to the wire imo - not that we really deserve to go through given how inconsistent we are.

Good to see that TJ is as all knowing about cricket as everything else. If only you were the selector ๐Ÿ˜‰

Clubber - opening with Prior? Why? Its an Experiment that has failed

bowling selection in the last couple of games?

Only 4 bowlers today?

Come off it - its an inept performance. Poor selection and tactics

Given that England are the twenty20 world champions I think it's pretty clear which form of the short game has been sacrificed.

Just looking forwards to the summer test matches now

interesting, mucho interesting... Windies trying hard to c0ck this up! Though, remember they have changed their batting lineup and have (had?) 2 top-order batsman in reserve, don't they?

Still think england could pull this off! Just wish I could watch it, anyone got a link to it online (that you don't have to be in the UK for it work)?

Pollard gone! Drop cost 16 runs though. Is it still going to be the difference?

Come off it - its an inept performance.

Yep it does outwardly look that way, doesn't it.

Poor selection and tactics

Maybe but probably not. At a basic level, sports are pretty simple. Cricket - hit/deflect/avoid ball as approriate, throw ball or catch ball. OK there are nuances (fielding placement, bowling combinations etc) but if any team fails to perform at the level it could or should then it's far more likely to be an issue of psychology (why do batting collapses happen? There's no logical reason) than the tactics or order. And as to selection, you don't know all the reasons behind them - even decisions that may outwardly look bad often have good justification when you're in posession of all the information.

Either way, your suggestion that you know more about it than people who I have no doubt have order of magnitutes more experience and knowledge to draw on than you is as silly as all the footie muppets who drone on about how they know how to win the world cup.

You have gotta be joking me!! Sarwen out, 2 wickets remain with 20 odd to get, rank tailenders to try and finish it off for the Windies... Going to very close now, game swings back to England...

EDIT - Another wicket... bloody hell...

As I've said before, you can't accuse England of making the 50 over game boring!

Amazing, not sure my nerves can take another game like most of the ones so far.

Makes the India and SA games more exciting too ๐Ÿ™‚

It strikes me that what we need for the next round rather than knock-out QFs is a Super 8 stage like last time - we'd be top of the table going into that, given we've only lost against teams not making it through!

Got to give credit to ****stan though - yeah WI were poor but I think many teams might have struggled against that bowling (definitely England playing against all that spin ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

You watching the big game today then psychle? I'm hoping Punter gets out early and throws another strop. ๐Ÿ˜€

Fair play to him - I think he's quite childish and petulant a lot of the time, but he's certainly faced up to all the criticism he's had very well, and made big runs when it really matters.
