Today I forgot to bring in a new shirt for work, but I have found a balled up one at the bottom of my bag from Tuesday. It smells fine, but is creased to buggery. Any idea how I can iron it in the office without the use of an actual iron? Am already considering trying to use the photocopier as a kind of trouser press.
Is there someone fat and sweaty who could sit on it - the warmth and moisture will have the creases out in a jiffy.
Go out and buy a new shirt?
Got showers? Hang it in there, turn the shower on as hot as it will go, steam the creases out
You could do what I do, and stop giving a shit?
If there is a kettle available steam it with that. Not while wearing it.

This works really well if it's a "easy iron" shirt.
Previously I've had to do mad dashes to Tesco Extras to buy a shirt when I've forgotten one. Better that than sitting around looking like a tramp.
as above, steam
Steam is an option but I'm intrigued at the photocopier trouser press idea. You've got to try that purely in the name of science!

have done that in the past, primark is five minutes away...
Today I'm mainly doing

however am still considering suggestions. I've made myself a brew and tried to stand as close as I could get to the kettle without actually needing first aid but it hasn't helped much.

If ever there was a sign of those on STW that work in an IT dept… 😆
edit - for the record I’m currently in t-shirt & jeans so not one to judge

When I used to do lakes to Warrington a lot I had a dodgy washing machine, Tuesday morning was normally via the M&S by Ikea for 3 shirts, pants and socks, occasionally trousers. About 5 years later I was shocked when I next needed to buy work wear

Update. I tried the photocopier trouserpress method. So I set it to 50 copies initially to get it warmed up. It did warm up. My previous assertion that
may have been wrong in hindsight, the warmth and light seems to awoken a beast. The photocopier smells funny. It smells fine,
Hot air hand drier works surprisingly well
Keep a jumper in the bottom drawer for exactly this purpose. As long as collars and cuffs are good, you can forget what's in between.
If there is a kettle available steam it with that
best option...
Or go to Robert Dyas and buy a steamer and leave it in the desk for future times when you do this again.
Amateur...
This is what jumpers are for!

Good advice for life generally, that.

*continues day at work*
Hurrah for academia!
