ok .. I need the hive mind again.. this is probably simple but I don't see it just now...
I need to carry a value from a cell in one sheet of a workbook and place it in a cell of a second sheet ( ok, while adding it to another value on that second sheet )
simples?

Yes. Use the "sum" function and just point it at the cell whose number you want to carry over

=Sheet1!A1+A1

Save first sheet.
Open the second sheet.
Select your destination cell and type [b]=[/b] then click in cell on first sheet. Once the value has transferred over you can do what you want with it.
