Why oh why do I have to fill some very personal details about the ID I am going to use to fly over to the Great Kingdom of Britain. IIRC the first principle of the EU was to allow goods AND people to freely travel/work from any country of the union.
So why does the ****ing Brown thinks this principle does not apply to the UK and that using the fallacious excuse of terrorism allows him not to abide to the basic principles that define the EU.
As much as I like to see left wing governments ruling countries all around Europe (ok and the world too), I really think it's time a proper left wing government take the lead of the UK, as I am sure that many of my fellows socialists/communist will concur over the fact that the new labour is not really left wing (at this point I shall say that neither BNP nor Tories are viable solutions, as with no doubt, immigrations policies will be even tougher).
So I am going now to fill the bloody form and feel that big brother is watching me. I mean it's not like I'll be going to the UK to ride the trail and try to have sex with the British girls...
Oh hang on a second...
'cos Nu-Labour is not left-wing or interested in a cohesive society. Divide & rule is their motto, which is why we're not in the Schengen Agreement.
But good luck with both the trains & the girls.
Ha Ha thanks moses. But not sure I want to get any intimate acquaintances with the train 😉

Try visiting France without a passport if you're British.
didnt think i'd hear "Labour" and "left wing" in the same sentence ever again. Nu-labour are more right wing than Thatcher

Subject: Fw: British passport?
An elderly British gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane. At the
French customs desk he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his
carry-on bag. 'You have been to France before, Monsieur?' the customs
officer asked sarcastically.
The elderly gentleman admitted he had been to France previously.
'Then you should know enough to 'ave your passport ready,' the customs
officer said.
The elderly gentleman replied, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to
show it.'
'Impossible! The British always have to show their passports on arrival in
France !'
The Man gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained;
'Well, when I came ashore on the Beach on D-Day in 1944, I couldn't find
any f-----g Frenchmen to show it to.'
awaits to get flamed 8)
Actually that made me chuckle bruneep 😀
When I cam ashore on the beach at Hastings in 1066, passports hadn't been invented... 😉
Juan - did you need a residence permit to live in the UK? No. So why do I have a "Carte de Sejour" ??
DJ are you native from the EU?

i thought Schengen was the outcome of Maggie and her handbag?
Juan,
The british government.. they've been watching your posts on here and need to keep close tabs on you to protect our women.
Just fill in the form and bring some tissue with you.

Several times I have used ferries to get into France and Belgium. I have never shown my passport to anyone until getting back into the UK.
to keep your sock clean Juan..
ROFLMAO @ sharki

Yes I am. British.
😉
Well don't know
Mind you my mum is Spanish and she does have a Carte de séjour.

Well, my point is that the UK has much much less bureaucracy than anywhere I have lived, including France.

I concur.
To be fair you can't really compete with France in terms of bureaucracy...
It's just mental.
CFH I though someone of your standard would use 'I concur' 😀
I agree.
Well done CFH you broke the thread title.
Actually bureaucracy in France is a dream compared with Holland. Also, in France you eventually find someone to help you bend the rules to get what you need. In Holland some Nazi official just says "it is not poshibul" and that's it. Talk to the hand.
