Personally I have enjoyed most elements of the Olympics thus far. Its seemed to be to be well organised, well run and inclusive for an event of this complexity, in fact very few issues thus far. Well done Britain, apparently we are not the whining, whinging, dead from the neck up, load of deadbeats we try to portray ourselves as.

That is all

There seem to be a lot of people who want everything to go wrong, so they can moan about it.

What a pointless thread.

That said, I'm enduring the American commentary, full of gems such as "London England, today in the rain. Bit of a drag for people coming here, but for the locals this is summer, they love it"

..and using "momentarily" instead of "in a moment".

I'm a fully fledged, card carrying, anti capitalist, society despising, crusty anarchistic techno punk, and even for all that I feel a tiny sense of national pride about how well they're pulling this off..

touched inappropriately in my special place by the spirit of the Olympiad

Apparently handball is a lot bigger everywhere else in the world, but for some reason it never caught on here. Interview on the home service the other day with the captain of the GB Women's team (I think) suggested that this would make it a lot more popular.

It's certainly an entertaining sport.

Well, you're doing better than Christopher Hitchens in the Fail on Sunday, he seems to hate everything amount it.
Actually, he's a miserable sociopath who hates absolutely everything, so that shouldnt be a surprise, really.

I am convinced Christopher Hitchens died a few months ago.

I must say as an overseas watcher there is a massive element in reading the UK press and watching the telly of complete negativity. Almost every article is about how things have gone wrong or how sh1t it all is. Boring. Frmo what i have watched it has been fantastic.

It all looks good from down here in WA - it makes you proud to be british. Although the aussie tv coverage leaves something to be desired - I know they'll be rooting for the Aussies naturally, but you'd swear there's no other competitors out there unless they inconsiderately happen to be in shot in some multi lane event ....
