Not dramatic but found a new and painful way to injure myself today

I pushed a drawing pin into a wooden board to pin a sign in place. As I removed my hand the sign fell on the floor along with the round top of the drawing pin. Then I noticed the blood.

The pin hadn't gone into the board but had pushed back through the head and right into my thumb leaving just the pointed tip sticking out. Ouch.

I had to use my teeth to pull the pin out which was quite hard as I couldn't get a grip on the tip that was sticking out and the blood made it all slippy. By the time i did extract it I had a very sore thumb and blood all over my face.

Never seen that happen before.

you noticed this when the sign fell off? Not when you PUSHED A DRAWING PIN RIGHT INTO YOUR THUMB?

you noticed this when the sign fell off?

I was busy setting up for the market. That was what made the blood a bit of an issue. It is hard to talk to people about fine art when you appear to be a Cosplay Hannibal Lecter interrupted during a snack to accompany your Chianti

I had to clean up using the water misting bottle and brush cleaning rag which was somewhat sub-optimal

At least you use acrylic and the rag wasn't soaked in turps I guess!

Like a low rent Vincent van Gogh self-mutilator.

Do you notice the slightly strange pink clouds(?) in the nearest painting?

Guess what they are covering?

I guess in years to come the experts can DNA sample the painting to prove it is mine 🙂

I've experienced this in the past, it really, really effin stings! You have my commiserations and sympathy.

FWIW I thought that 'modern' drawing pins had to be designed and constructed to ensure that what happened to you was impossible. There you go, you are extraordinary! 👍🏼😉😂

I've had that too.
Nasty isn't it?
Not sure I managed to get it that far in though.

This makes me feel better as I sit in a&e awaiting stitches and some xrays. At least I fell off my bike all be it on a fairly innocuous bit of trail.

I've had this happen to me. Old cheap thumb tacks.

First thought is, ooh, bit stingy, next is, how did that happen, then the pain hits. :-/

I think that bag of art equipment needs a multitool with pliers added, just in case, y’know? ⛑️😁
