Can anyone recommend a nice camp site in North London for one night - we are going to Alexander Palace if that helps

Hmmm think you might struggle. Nearest one is either Epping or Lee Valley:

Have a look around the Lea Valley & Broxbourne.

Quite a nice cycle down towpaths to Alexander Palace if that helps

Lee Valley Almost Wild Campsite, etc...

How are you getting to Ally Pally? It's on a train line so you could pick a place further out the train line?

There's free parking there but traffic can be horrific

If you are coming on a bike you could try warm showers.

It's with the family unfortunately, otherwise warm showers is an excellent idea
