Is it possible to cancel if bought on Credit card, or is it exactly as stated.

Anybody had any successes squirming out of one of these agreements?

Are you actually asking this or have I missed a bit of STW humour? 😀

Take out travel insurance, cut off your leg the day before travel, claim cost of room on travel insurance.

If the stay is tonight probably not..., and about 50/50 - it usually depends on whether the hotel is a standard business one which is always getting cancellations and/or busy enough not to worry.

You're not likely to get a refund on the basis of the hotel being busy or business etc, it's generally only where it's in their best interests - i.e. you are a frequent guest or it's a company booking. In those cases you're more likely to get a room credit (refund is still pretty unlikely) onto your account. It's still unlikely in my experience though. The hotel would just think your company was taking the wee wee if you book a cheapo non refundable rate and then try to cancel.

If you're a standard punter who has booked their cheapest non-refundable rate and now want a refund, most hotels will tell you to gtf.
