fitted some new wipers, very good but so noisy. Why and how long until they stop scraping ?

Recently changed mine to, didn't squeak but shuddered on a patch in the middle (and left it streaky, right in my eye line), went away after a few days...

Bend the wiper arm so they’re flat. They won’t skip then.
use an adjustable spanner as you would to straighten a brake rotor.

Try thoroughly wiping the windscreen with some damp newspaper.
Might also be worth cleaning the wiper blades with white vinegar on a cloth.
