I've just ordered a Nissan Navara as my next company vehicle. Didn't really want to, don't like the macho image, the sheer size and the poor ride quality (inspite of the Nissan having 'proper' rear suspension) but the company car tax was crippling on my Freelander and the Navara will be more useful for work. Anyone got one of the new ones? Comments?

Know a guy with one, has run it happily for 2 years I think. Felt the deal he got on it lease wise meant it was a no brainer, cheaper than keeping his old vehicle as servicing was included. My wife is very Nissan brand loyal, imo they seem a bit less sophisticated than the Toyotas and Mitsubishi's I have owned before.

Did you look at the Mitsubishi L200 out of interest ?

I'll raise you a BMW 3 series on 19" run flats

That'll be the old one, not the one the OP is talking about

We've a 4 series of 20" run flats and it's decent, but it's a bit late asking about the Nissan after you've ordered it.

Don't your company allow you to take an allowance and then claim mileage as then you'd have been able to get another decent 4x4.

What do you mean 'proper'? I drove a twin cab a few weeks ago and it was leaf-springed / sprung.

The interior was nice and car-ey. Someone said it was a lot like the new X-Trail.

The auto functioned well. Obviously well sorted for the diesel. It didn't needlessly drop down a gear as some can.

The 2.3 felt a little sluggish. That's compared to older trucks - L200 (2.5L) and DMax (3.0L).

They sorted it years ago in the old Navara

It's true, the double cab has coil springs and wishbones and they do ride better than any other pick up I've been in - still not a patch on most cars, though. They are designed to carry 1 tonne in the back, when empty they are 'jiggly' to say the least. As for being gutless, the one I've ordered (and test driven)has a 190BHP twin turbo engine (Renault)with a 7 speed autobox which feels much fitter than the Isuzu and the Toyota we already have here.

I was in a KingCab (the one and a half) - as opposed to Twin cab.

A quick google says it's the only one with leaf springs. Which Isuzu? I admitted it was the 2.3 Nissan and 3.0L Isuzu.

The latest 2.5 litre twin turbo Isuzu. All the Nissans are 2.3, two stages of tune. There's a v6 on the way, apparently.

Mmmmm. V6.

Think I'll keep saving until one of these can be bought and dropped off at my house via Hennessey though.
