I am wanting to take my wife away for a week in November for some well earned sunshine and relaxation ( she has been working day and night for months) and would like to go self catering as I we like to explore and eat out in different places etc. Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay (apartments etc) in the canary islands as so far most of them look a bit grim that I have seen. Needs to have restaurants, bars etc but not too lively, bit to old for the 18 - 30's type holiday now! Cheers.

We have just come back from Costa caleta in fuerteventura. I can recommend the resort as there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants which do not attract the wrong people. The hotel was not fantastic however and I would not recommend.

Have a look at a private apartment or villa

Playa Blanca or Costa Teguise in Lanzarote are nice

i stayed here about 3 weeks ago: http://www.apartamentosoliastur.es/esp/index.html in El Cotillo in Fuerteventura.

Was really good and i'd recommend it. El Cotillo is definitely not a touristy village but does have some really good local restaurants and bars. Only about 30 mins from Corralejo for all your 18-30s needs. You will definitely need to rent a car if you go there though.

Try this we been here quite a few times its on the north of the island so a lot quieter than the south, very green, mountains, seaside, lovely little villages and best of all not many tourists. The village has a few shops lots of places to eat, a nice beach and take your bike cause theres some good riding in the area. We always rent a car. The man that owns the villa and flats can arange this. Flights via easy jet.

Got a nice little one bed apartment here in Los Cristianos I can do you a deal on. Close to bars and restaurants, but super quiet complex.
