Mates going to be working in the area and is going to start looking for places to rent. He's asked if anyone knows the area and can give him a recommendation for around £550 per month. He's got a wife and young kiddie and would like to know the nicest area for that sort of money.
Anyone local care to give some advice?

Thanks a lot

Permanent move? School age kid? Which side of town will he be working? House with garden in lesser area better than 2 bed flat in more expensive area?

Anyway, Donny is a medium sized town surrounded by villages, but it all gets lumped as one, the ex pit villages are mainly still shabby, the suburbs which aren't self contained villages are short on amenities but generally posher. Tickhill and Bawtry are posh, Bessacar and Sprotborough too. Stainforth, Hexthorpe, Bentley, Edlington, some of Balby, Highfields all to be avoided. In most other areas you'll likely find somewhere nice enough, there are smaller new builds available to rent at his budget, or bigger family houses in cheaper areas.

Okay, his budget isn't that big, but if he looks at areas like Dunscroft, Cantley, Scawthorpe, Town Moor, parts of Intake, parts of Balby, terraces close to town he should get something. (Secondary)Schools to aim for are Hungerhill, Ridgewood, Hall Cross, Hayfield, Campsmount. Small cottages should be available in the villages too, if he wants village life rather than suburbs

Shout out for Edenthorpe, good motorway links, easy access into Town Centre, still has a "villagey" feel, couple of half decent pubs, good schools.....and I live here!

Stepdaughter lives in Campsall which seems nice. Not much there though.
