Yeah, I know.

Not mega-fancy but not Greggs either - needs to have at least a couple of veggie options - South/East of Wigan preferable.

Any suggestions? Will be a Friday lunchtime if it makes a difference.

Cheers!

Cheers chakaping - I will be coming from Manchester way though so could really do with something on that side of Wigan, some of those are a bit out of the way.

Gotta be a wigan dinner.

Pies?

S/E of Wigan? That's hardly coming "from" Manchester - it still is Manchester!

Anyway, there's a reasonable Thai place in Culcheth.

In hindley there's La Cava Italian.

I've been to La Cava and its good. There's also Dilbars which is an Indian. Guessing they do veggie options.

The travellers rest near Newton Le Willows is a lovely pub, superb food, nice beers. Privately owned place that's always pretty full.

For curry, spice lounge in Culcheth is lovely.

Thai, there's one above a pub in Wigan town centre. It sounds a lot worse than it is, it's a really nice Thai.

The Culcheth recommendations are good.
Also Arietes in Newton was good when I last went in.

I strongly recommend Bents Garden Centre (WA3 5NT). Self-service, but the food is excellent. Nothing like your average garden centre caff. A bit pricy for coffee and cake, but a nice treat all the same.

Thanks Esme - sounds good.

Anyone been here? Gets good reviews but their website doesn't seem to work.

Spice Lounge in Culcheth is great, same people own 'The Indian' in Leigh although obviously you'll take your chances there.

Chinese Garden in Westhoughton is very good.

Bents is good as recommended above although it's an old person haven.

Fat Bull is nice enough.

The Raj in Culcheth is a good alternative to the Spice Lounge.

The Raven Inn, Glazebury (between Culcheth and the A580). Always very welcoming, food's always been good.

Bents is lovely for a lunch, but it will be £15 each minimum.

Lovely salads, roasts, pies, sandwiches, cakes, coffee etc etc.
