I rarely use my nexus. When I do want to use it however it spends about 45 minutes updating everything in the world. During which time it's not really usable.
Can I stop it doing this?

Leave it switched on and on auto update.

If you switch auto-update off do you not just get constantly prompted to update? Switch on daily and let it do its stuff.

if your nexus has just updated to Android 5 (lollipop) nearly all your old apps will want to update to optimise (and remove any bugs) for it. Some app developers will take longer than others to release updates following an OS update.

jimmy - you may get a notification (eg at the top of the screen pull down section) that there are updates ready (though IIRC you can turn those off too) but they won't actually do anything.

There are loads of updates at the moment as companies are updating their apps to work properly with the latest version of android (and then fixing the bugs they introduce with their updates 🙂 )

I have a nexus 7 too. I do a mass update once a month or so when I know I don't want to use it for the next 30 mins or so.

even if you haven't updated to 5, there are still a lot of app updates to be compatible with 5, so you'll be getting all those too.

I just leave mine auto-updating. If updates happen to launch at an inconvenient time, I go into the Store and hit 'stop'. Simples.

They do seem to choose the most inopportune times to do loads of updates... it's laying around the house all day and all night with as much internet access as it likes but it seems to always be right when you want to use it that it decides now is a good time.

It's a pity there's no way of scheduling when you want it to do all its updating.

I have a Samsung tab and normally leave the wireless off to stop if buzzing with emails all the time but when I do turn it on I have the same problems, lots of apps updating.
