I have just signed up for Spotify and have a question about whether it works the way I imagine. Basically I'm wondering if I can import a playlist from iTunes and then listen to those tracks via streaming, not downloading them to my iPhone? Does that make sense? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
Dont know about that, but up here where connections can be poor I work the other way, set up playlists on spotify and save them to my phone by making them avaliable offline.
If you've iTunes match, you can do that without going near spotify. That's pretty much what match does.
As for spotify, you can make playlists etc. in spotify and then stream them to the iPhone using the spotify app. You'll need spotify premium for this (£10/month) I think.
I am not sure if there's a way to do it combining iTunes and Spotify.. others may be able to advise.
To get them on your phone you do need the premium options, £10 a month (or £5 if your a student).
On the computer, it will recognise your itunes folder to let you play all those songs, you can then add the ones you want to a playlist, which will be visible on your phone. However, often spotify wont recognise your version of the tune if you burnt it from CD, so on the phone you might not get all the tracks available (unless you transfer the files to your phone).
The advantage with spotify tho is it gives you access to much more music, create a few playlists of song you like and run a radio from them, adding new tracks to the playlist as you listen.
I really like it, much better than itunes match.
Do students really get spotify cheaper than me! All those ****ers do all day is listen to music, they should pay more if anything.
File -> Import Playlists -> iTunes ?
A fiver! They don't know they're born. I spent more than that per week down the student union record fair in a futile attempt to amass a reasonable collection!or £5 if your a student
AIUI, importing the playlist doesn't give me the possibility to play the tracks by streaming, only to download them to the phone. Where I live (Denmark) I can't use iTunes Match, but I want essentially the same functionality - listening to a list of tracks that I created on iTunes, but via streaming, so it doesn't take up space on my iPhone.
