Cant find anything on the (usually better) gov website.
Im selling a car for which the VED expires next week. The person buying it (a friend) wants to pay for the new tax to start for Nov. We havent sent off the V5 yet.

What's the process supposed to be?

Do I really have to tax it for 6months and then lose 1 month of tax when I reclaim it?

Or should I just SORN it for the end of this month and once it's sold its her resoponsibility to renew?

EDIT: actually bollox to it, that's exactly what I'll do. SORN it, mrs S can commute in the camper van and then I just hand over the V5 new owners slip and the new owner can go to the post office and get taxed (she's not an internet kind of person)
