New to Samsung, why do I have two battery readings and two times being displayed?

After years of Sony Xperia faithfulness I have moved to Samsung because of their reportedly longer software support. I was going for an Xperia 5V but support ends this year, so I plumped for a S24+ where updated software lasts until next decade.

It's taking a bit of getting used to tbh. For example, where is the auto correct keyboard? 

Biggest bugbear is the weird greyed out time and battery info at the top of the home screen. I don't think I want them. Can anyine advise me how to get rid of them please?
