Is anyone using one? I don’t have TNT and it would be great to follow it. It would mean watching the Australian coverage I guess, has anyone seen it? Is it any good?

I use Nord VPN and have been watching the Classics on SBS Australia for the past couple of seasons with no issues at all. Not watched any of their Tour coverage yet but if it's anything like the stuff I've watched then it'll be good.

That’s good to know. The Nord VPN package is about £65 for two years, I didn’t want to commit to that and find out that the SBS commentators are really annoying or something

I also use Nord and SBS. Works well.
if you like your politics you can get Nord through Rest is Politics referral and get free TRIP plus membership.

It was being streamed for free on the official Giro YouTube channel today. Not sure if that's a one off but worth checking

Tiz is quite good. Full day usually uploaded within an hour. Live feeds are a bit hit and miss,

SBS is great, I much prefer the commentators to TNT/HBO/whatever they are this week

There seems to be some rumors that TNT will have free to air tour coverage of some sort, but I'm not holding out hope for anything good

Re VPNs.

I've been using various VPN providers for 10+ years. I'd be reluctant to sign up for a two year subscription even if it is the cheapest option. VPNs are a game of whack-a-mole to circumvent geographic restrictions and when rights holders notice too many connections from the same IP address, that will be blocked. So you have to make sure that your VPN provider either changes their IP end point quickly once identified or be prepared to move VPN provider (which stings when you're in a long term contract).

Having said that I've been using ExpressVPN for the past couple of years without problems (they have multiple end points for most "major" countries).

I tried NordVPN but they over-charged me so I cancelled.

Re SBS

The coverage is fine. They have access to a LOT of races and have live feeds plus decent length highlight packages as well. BUT, the stream quality isn't great (probably the signal latency from Oz) even at a  supposed 1080 and the commentary isn't done by Ned 😕. Oh, and there's adverts too...

By comparison, I've just watched today's TT race replay on the world feed via a NZ end point, and that picture quality was MUCH better than SBS (and the commentary was by Ned!).

I'll probably stick with SBS though as the ~ 1hr highlight package is sufficient for my needs...

That stream cut off at a random point and a new geo-restricted stream started. I suspect someone made a mistake setting up the feed today and didn't spot it for a while.

With regards VPNs - I use Mullvad. It's always 5 euros for a month's use and the billing is not recurring so if you don't use it it will just expire until the next time you put money in the meter. I suspect it's cheaper for me than some of the other VPN options, but I don't have the energy to navigate their weird pricing structures to find out. I gather there's lots of good security reasons to choose Mullvad, but the honesty of their pricing is the main thing for me.

How are people actually watching this on their TV? I've only ever been able to get it working on my phone and then it was unstable .

I've not yet got it fully working myself for the purposes of watching thre racing, but i do use a VPN when abroad so I can access stuff from home

You can install a VPN client on e.g. an Amazon firestick, a Roku stick or an Apple TV, then for the racing you would set the VPN to your preferred location and use youtube (for the world feed) or the app for the broadcaster of your choice. You may of course need to sign up for an account with said broadcaster to get the app running

Use phone or laptop to access the VPN and media then cast / screenshare to TV. I could install Nord VPN directly to the TV but have not got around to that yet.

Just to update, I've fired up the VPN on the firestick and set to it NZ and am watching the official live world feed of the Giro, with commentary by Ned and Jacopo. Works on my tablet too

I've just tried this with PIA VPN set to NZ and looking at the @giroditalia youtube channel https://m.youtube.com/@giroditalia/streams and get geo-blocked. Have you got a link please?

Also got NordVPN and can watch SBS on the phone but when I screenshare to the TV I don't get any sound.  Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?  Will see if I can catch the world feed via NZ but expect to have no sound if watching on the TV.

I’m sure I had an ad pop up on my socials saying TNT will be offering some TDF free to air

It will most likely be the same one hour review / highlights programme that they're doing right now for the giro (7pm on dmax, Freeview channel 39). They do it for all the grand tours i think, maybe even for the dauphine, but i dont recall they did paris nice this year

Correction: SBS  tops out at 720 😕

DMAX available to people who don't have an aerial?

I'll have to see if I can get the VPN app working on the TV as I don't have an Amazon stick so by the time I've bought everything it's almost as cheap and far easier to just pay their silly prices for a month.
