Normally very quickly for me but my latest pair of varifocals took a while, probably a couple of weeks. I had used variofocals previously but these apparently have a subtley different construction to make them thinner.

I am very sensitive to change in specs, either in prescription or just different angles through new frames. Normally a few days, although when I went to varifocals last autumn took a good month plus. Got new vari's a few weeks ago and they were fine within a day or 2.
If it's taking more than a few days I'd suggest go back to opticians and get them to check, both prescription and fit.
